Re: DVO has 1 assist
Looks like he’s struggling to keep up with the pace at center. Or the staff has him focusing on the defensive side of the puck.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 07:26 am Sundqvist has 9.

Re: DVO has 1 assist
To be fair Sunny is getting way more ice time per game. The eyeball test tells me DVO looks better than his production so far. He generally makes good plays with the puck. As he gains more confidence I'm sure he will hold on to the puck more. He has had a bunch of point blank chances that he probably normally finishes, so he could have more goals than he currently has. He is also only getting around 10-11 minutes per game.

It could be that he is a young player who needed to work on his defensive play in the past who is now a rookie on a team that struggles to score goals, or your mortal enemy Army is instructing him to not get assistsa smell of green grass wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 07:26 am Sundqvist has 9.

Re: DVO has 1 assist
I'm not sure if these are goal or assists. Let's just call them message forecast points, delivered by the 1C of BluesTalk.
* The winning streak late last year foretold nothing
* The team at the start of this season would perform like the team in January 2025.
* The team's best players are consistently outplayed by the other team's best players in meaningful games--just like Army said.
* The re-whatever is not "over". Army said that to take fans' eyes off our prospects. Why? Because there is nothing special to see there.
* Show me a Blues long-term contract, and I'll show you an under-performing player.
* The Blues re-whatever was the first one completed where the average age of the roster went up, not down.
* Army is touted as a great scout and NHL draft expert--but one look at the VALUE (GOALS and ASSISTS) delivered by Army prospects compared to the rest of the league, the facts tell a way different story.
* Army has NEVER drafted high, and drafting high is how you can tell the worth of the scouting department. When one of Army's prospect fails, it's always just the prospect's fault -- because everyone knows that any prospect picked outside the TOP10 is high risk.
* Army is leaving the team in much worse shape than when he started, and the team will soon be in the hands of the rookie trained by Army, and that rookie will be expected to dig the team out of the biggest hole in the NHL.
* Army is the GM of great distractions: Winter Classic, 4 Nations, Olympics. You name it, he is leading it. Meanwhile, the Blues are sinking to the bottom of the abyss.
* John Kelly was ditched by the Blues.
* When the players that you steal from a strong team's bench are your BEST YOUNG PLAYERS, that is a KNOCK on the GM, not a plus.
And most importantly...
* The fans in St Louis are not getting near the NHL excitement of fans in other cities.
Re: DVO has 1 assist
From my perspective . . .
1. Dvorsky needs to be playing top-9, somewhere
2. He CLEARLY has offensive limitations at this juncture
3. He appears to be FAR too passive on the ice. IMHO a top-9 center must be active-aggressive in puck possession all over the ice.
4. They may be coaching him to lay back offensively, to keep himself between the puck and the Blues goal. A case can be made this at least partially enabled the Holloway-Schenn synergy we saw in Montreal, as DD is decent in transition outlet initiation.
5. The Blues can afford to keep playing him because they need him to blossom and become a complete center. He is NOT a complete center right now, only performing at a bad 4th line ES production rate at best.

Re: DVO has 1 assist
It's definitely the latter. Army out there forcing him to only pass to set up non-scoring chances.fish wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 09:03 amIt could be that he is a young player who needed to work on his defensive play in the past who is now a rookie on a team that struggles to score goals, or your mortal enemy Army is instructing him to not get assistsa smell of green grass wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 07:26 am Sundqvist has 9.

Re: DVO has 1 assist
Well, he’s not a top 5 pick so he has neither value as a hockey player, nor as a human being.
So … what’s the point of this thread?

Okay, okay… so now that Jordan Kyrou is out, Dalibor Dvorský has become the new punching bag? Come on—he’s 20 years old, playing on a team that’s clearly struggling right now. I’m just happy he’s in the NHL, getting experience and learning. I’m not expecting anything more from him at this stage.

Re: DVO has 1 assist
I think #3 above is spot on and what I’m seeing too. He seems to not yet have the confidence/patience to hold the puck to let the play develop. Passing quickly which is the passive part. Hopefully he hits a moment soon where he starts playing more aggressively with the puck. And OT a bit, but it’s crazy what a couple draft spots meant that year.DawgDad wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 09:27 am From my perspective . . .
