Kaskamaki thoughts?
I honestly think the kid has played pretty well.. a couple bad passes but who on this team hasn’t?

Re: Kaskamaki thoughts?
He's been fine so far. Seems to have some offense in him.

He's been fine in the role he's been put in. He's not very noticeable which is a good and bad thing. But he's a rookie as well. I liked his game in camp. I think he's going to be fine.
He will probably be a full time NHL'er next season potentially.

Too small of a sample for me. Got a lot of minutes that first game, but not much since. Does seem to be a very good skater.

He’s been ok, I’d like to see Stancl up here as well.

What’s the deal with the kid they got from the Kings. Wouldn’t he be a better option right now than Kaski or Luff?

I think he's met the objective. Right now any scoring is a bonus. I believe they need him to be a minutes eater, and play competent responsible defensive hockey. The scoring will come. They just need him to take pressure off our core players.
I agree about Stancl. I would like to see Perarcik and Stenberg as well, except they are in double digit +/-. It would be great to have a line that comes up, has chemistry and produces the way Handzus, Bartecko and Nagy did 27 years ago. Springfield is playing better of late, so hopefully production will start trending up. I expect these prospects to really start coming on the first of the year. Hopefully they will each get called up for a few games in the spring and then go back to Springfield for a long playoff run. Then they will be knocking on the door at the 2026 camp.

Not bad. But haven't watched enough to give more of a take.
Luff on the other hand appears to be a quick fill-in. I guess because he has some prior NHL experience, they felt he would be able to play with less adjustment in emergency.

Haven’t seen Thomas since he junior days…he was a good player. Hopefully the Blues will give him a chance to prove himself. I think Luff is there because he earned a call up, I doubt he will be here long though.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 08:41 amWhat’s the deal with the kid they got from the Kings. Isn't he one of those guys that had promise, but never materialized kind of thing. Another Texier type situation? 2nd rounder who had some desirable stuff but didn't cut it?Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 08:56 amHaven’t seen Thomas since he junior days…he was a good player. As far as Kaskamaki, he's been pretty unnoticeable. Not that I expected more, but I usually go looking for the call ups and young guys. He doesn't ever seem like he's doing much out there. But I think that's the role they wanted him in. I never pretend to be knowledgeable about the farm system. But my understanding is that Kaskamaki and Peterson are their "direct" players and they are seen as bottom 6 guys that they want to play a good solid game. If they develop past that it's a bonus. If they wanted more skill, they would bring up Stenberg.
The real bummer is, if Dean wasn't going thru his troubles, he would have been the first call up as this was supposed to be his bread and butter role.

Once Fowler failed to clear the puck I think Horton got by Kaskimaki and then Mailloux to score their 3rd goal I believe.

My entirely unscientific POV on players with substance issues is as mysterious as the human psyche- they can lose a bit of their playing edge when they come to terms with the Demons that drove their aggressive/compulsive behavior - or... they can now focus calmly on whatever ON ICE difficulties held them back, and blossom.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 09:27 amhad high (no pun intended) hopes for Dean but think that ship has sailedcallitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 09:14 amIsn't he one of those guys that had promise, but never materialized kind of thing.
