Brendan Donovan's Trade Market On Fire Ahead Of Winter Meetings
The St. Louis Cardinals All-Star is getting significant trade interest...

Donovan has been the guy discussed the most since. His market reportedly is massive.

On Friday, ESPN's Jeff Passan added more fuel to that idea by saying Donovan's market "remains conflagrant" and St. Louis is determining next steps.

Cardinals All-Star Reportedly Has Massive Trade Market

Patrick McAvoy

Nov 13, 2025

Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch gave an update on All-Star infielder Brendan Donovan on Thursday and noted that "few players, if any" have gotten as much trade buzz as the All-Star utility man has gotten this offseason and specifically mentioned teams like the Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers for him, but noted that the list goes on.

Wait, I thought Noot was the hot ticket this offseason. He and his .128 ISO and 0.8 fWAR in 583 PAs.

But good to hear Donovan is a hot property. Wonder what the offers, if any, are so far.

I will be sad to see him traded. I understand the need and am not against it, but he took the most consistent, smartest ABs on the team and I will miss watching that. His approach was hopefully influential to at least a few others.

May have been Katie Woo having some fun w/us before she headed to SoCal.

There probably have been initial offers but like all trade negotiations that start off w/a lowball offer Bloom likely said "Nope, but here's my counter".

MLB executives know Bloom is open for business. No more "waiting for the market to develop ". No more dragging of feet or "we like what we've got." And I will bet Bloom is active during the Winter Meetings. He won't hide in his suite with Girsch. Thank goodness that nonsense is over. DeWitt should be ashamed to have let that sarcastic putz run the team off a cliff.

It's sad. Most "journalism" now is just people writing about things they heard on a podcast, or read from an actual reporter.

And to both of your points, I think Bloom actually IS waiting on the market to develop...but in such a way that gives us the best chance to come away with what we want and need.

We're in sell mode right now, and Bloom seems to understand what that means and how to take advantage of that. Mo never seemed to do that particularly well. I don't think he went with the first offer that we got for Sonny. And I highly doubt that he's doing that with any of our other trade pieces, save Arenado, because that's just a situation that we're not going to come away from with a major win.

There's a plan. It might bear fruit, it might not, we cannot predict the future. But at least there's a plan, and just about every move we've made both for what happens between the chalk lines and up in the offices of Busch seems to be in clear advancement of that plan. Selling isn't fun, but at least it's done in a considered way.

I am certain Bloom is watching the market develop. But I am also certain he will recognize when the market isn't gonna get higher and make a decision. Donovan will be gone before Christmas IMO.

Nice that many teams want him.. but showing interest and offering up the players/prospects to obtain him are two entirely different things. Once talks get specific that interest will dwindle to just a few teams that can pony up the package to get him.
The rest of the ‘interested’ teams will bow out fairly quickly IMO.

I think there is broad based serious interest. And why not? If you are a contending team and want to fill a hole in the lineup AND position at reasonable $$$ he is a no brainer. No, he is not elite or the premiere player that will bring back a "haul", but he fits on any roster. And upgrades almost any roster. Heck, any roster. Even the Dodgers.

And I know a lot of Mo haters think he was the sole reason we hung onto Helsley and Fedde lastoff season (which I said was a mistake as both would have returned more than we got) but I believe ownership put some handcuffs on those deals. Still deluded into thinking they could "contend" with the last gasp of this roster. Mo wasn't that bad in the deals he did. But he also wasn't bold.

In this case ownership understands no more half measures AND has a GM who is a dealer so I've no doubt Bloom will get market value for Donovan which will be decent to the minds of those of us who understand the prospects numbers game and not nearly enough to those who think we will get a young controllable ML proven starting pitcher.

I check MLBtraderumors every morning now and expect, not just anticipate, a deal in the near future.
