Olympics? For anyone from this team?
Preface: I thought all the pre-season predictions about the Blues being a Wild Card bubble team were way off. The summer signings looked good. I expected to see these fellas dip out in a long & spirited second-round series. Contenders? Nah, but at least put up a fight. I drank the "5 percent better" Kool aid, for sure.
Anyway, Olympics.
Thomas came off a monster post- 4 Nations. Faulk was solidly reliable through second half. Binner 4 Nations ego. Parayko, Fowler were offensive machines.
There is NO WAY any of those cats can be in the conversation for an Olympic spot.
Broberg? Sure. Binner? Not so sure anymore.

I don't know the Swedish team so it's hard to say Broberg. But he's playing like he'll make the conversation. Not including tonight, Binner has been better and has the big game reputation.
Re: Olympics? For anyone from this team?
Binnington is a lock just because there are no other real options
Re: Olympics? For anyone from this team?
A lot of guys have worked they way on the roster
Celly
Bedard
Wilson
Scheif
Thomas has zero chance

Walker should be a shoo-in for the Aussies.

Binnington will be going. As hard as it is to believe Canada is very goaler poor, and quite frankly Binnington along with Bobrovsky and Vasilevsky are the best big game goalers in the NHL right now.
The rest who were kind of expected are up in the air. Parayko likely still gets a nod, but if Thomas doesn't start turning it on there's no justification for him at all.
Faulk maybe, but there are a lot of good young American Dmen in the league right now so they likely get the nod over him, unless they want a vet presence on the third pairing.
Suter and Broberg have serious shots at Team Sweden but who knows how many players they'll be taking from Sweden.
Other than those really no one else has a shot. Russians aren't playing, and everyone else is either underperforming or aren't good enough.

Highly doubt Faulk gets serious consideration, but he’s playing well. Broberg is probably in the conversation at least. Parayko might still make it. Binnington will be on the team though this year I think Logan Thompson has to get the starting job (at least at first). The Canadian goalie situation is just pretty weak. Thomas doesn’t have a shot. The kids have made their case in a huge way and that’s going to keep him out.

Suter is a shoo-in for Switzerland and Dvorsky for Slovakia.
Binnington might not end up Canada’s starter anymore but I bet he’ll still be one of the 3 goalies they take.
Parayko and Thomas’ chances have lessened significantly, especially Thomas. Parayko still has a decent shot but not close to the near lock he was going into the season.
I’d think Broberg would get consideration but none of the projected rosters seem to include him so probably not. Steen is a part of Sweden’s selection team though so that won’t hurt his chances.

The belief in St Louis is that Army drafts exceptionally well.
The reality of the St Louis roster is that we have nothing good enough for the world rosters worth mentioning (US, Canada, Russia, Sweden). Not now. Not a year from now. Not 5 years from now.
ARMY IS OUR SUPERSTAR going to the Olympics.
And then there is ASOGG and a few others that know better.

More proof that Smelly can't contribute to a single thread without jamming his anti-Armstrong agenda down our throats.
Maybe I'm the only one but I just don't really care if there are any Blues on any of the teams. I enjoy the hockey and it doesn't need to have Blues players for me to watch. World Juniors is a different story, and watching all of those prospects last year was definitely enjoyable.

+1, couldn’t give a toss. It’s pointless exhibition hockey to me, but the WJ is fun.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 09:20 am More proof that Smelly can't contribute to a single thread without jamming his anti-Armstrong agenda down our throats.

Frank is OK watching mediocre hockey, while paying standard prices. Who needs the Chris Prongers, when you can watch Mailloux instead?

Are you saying that success is getting TOP5 picks via trade?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 10:20 amhow did we get Pronger again?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 09:59 amSo in other words...Frank Underwood wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 09:20 am More proof that Smelly can't contribute to a single thread without jamming his anti-Armstrong agenda down our throats.

If yes, how soon do you think that Army's roster will have something of value high enough to get a TOP5 pick again?
Bolduc got us a Mailloux. Would we have to package up 10 Bolducs to get a Pronger?
