Why Are Most people on this Board in their 60s, 70s, 80s?
Someone did a poll here a while ago and most of the board is in their retirement ages.
Why do you think that is? I'm 41 and i think i'm one of the younger ones on here
possibilities:
-the younger crowd consumes their info more with apps, podcasts?
-Baseball doesn't quite draw in the younger generations like the NFL, NBA does? MLB doesn't seem as cool to them?
your thoughts

Younger guys have more testosterone.
They're probably out birdogg'in chicks and rais'in hell.
Don't have time for this foolish nonsense.
Or have better things to do with their lives.
I mean spending any longer than a few hours a week (less than 5) on this site is sad.
The old adage Get a Life comes to mind.

All this is true. And the young had a whole different indoctrination into baseball. Hence the result.Bully4you wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 08:33 am Younger guys have more testosterone.

As for us older ones. We’ve done what we intended to do. There comes a point when hookin and jivin no longer works.
Aging is sad. You’ll see.

I’m in my mid 60’s, and have been a Cardinal fan since the 60’s when they were in the World Series 3 different times! That’s the expectations I have for this team. Being retired gives me more time to post and express my opinions. My son checks in and reads the forum, but never posts. I think the younger fans have different avenues to express their opinions, or tend not to share their opinions at all. It could be that us older folks are just more opinionated and don’t have any qualms about sharing those opinions! LOL!

Well I’d say we did it different as an older one. Most of our interaction was face to face communication, with one on one on the telephone line.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 08:38 am I’m in my mid 60’s, and have been a Cardinal fan since the 60’s when they were in the World Series 3 different times! Being that we were always in constant face to face contact made us better communicating. I’d think.

Well, if they're not, they ought to be.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 08:37 amYounger generations have no balls to talk to a woman face to face...they aren't out bird dogging chicksBully4you wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 08:33 am Younger guys have more testosterone.

There's nothing better than the chase and gain.
But you may be right.
I've seen some really pathetic young men lately.
Maybe I am incorrect about the testosterone levels.

My 2 sons played youth ball, one played Legion ball. They like baseball but aren’t huge fans. They’ll go to 2 or 3 Cardinal games each year. They’re 31 and 30 years old and just don’t share my passion for baseball.
I love them anyway.

My kids are 21-25. They certainly stay connected and have a friend base. They monitor there sites. They don’t monitor Cardinal sites but they follow a couple sports teams.Bully4you wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 08:44 amI'm old.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 08:38 amAll this is true. I think baseball has really dwarfed into its intention- a pass time. Action level low. Easy afternoon. No drama.
All other sports, action by the moment. No add in the referees and their calls, constant high drama.

Well, I'm 44, sp not sure if I'm considered young or old, really. But, I still have plenty of time for "birddoggin" chicks and posting to this site. Work-life balance you might say

My oldest is 45. I drug her to tons of mlb and nfl. Now she still watches a ton of nfl and pretty much makes a day of it on Sunday. Cooking and hanging with her family. I'm well behaved and give nice Christmas gifts so I'm always welcome and invite myself on a regular basis. Anyway, unless the Cardinals are playing well, there's no interest. My son watches but it's jut something else to gamble on. My youngest has probably never watched a whole game. I haven't missed many games since 1967. So with me it's habit. My wife walks by and asks if they're winning. Im 68

Baseball is not a priority for them, especially this time of year. In addition, they're a fan of teams that are winning. Their loyalty falls on teams at the top of the standings, and... Ohtani.

I would agree to an extent. That "extent" is related to what the cutoff age is. Guys from like 22-35 seem like weenies. Not all, but some.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 09:22 amThe young ladies I work with tell me guys these days have no balls.
