I’ve figured out what’s wrong with the Blues
We’re not very good. At anything. I’m guessing we might pass to the other team at least 50 times, often in our OZone. We have a hard time on the power play finding someone to pass to. I remember attending practices at the Brentwood Ice Rink. Coach Brian Sutter screamed “SKATE BOYS SKATE” constantly. Our Blues can’t find any one to
Pass to because the puck holder stands still looking for someone to pass to and potential receivers stand still waiting for the puck.

Giving the wrong guys all the money. (bleep) poor at evaluating after a Cup victory.

Pretty sure the other team is OUTSCORING our boys.
Our top 4 defenders are not getting 'er done as a unit.

This team isn't as bad, as they look to be.
They play as if there are ten things they could get in trouble with if they fail.
And all ten are on the defensive side of the ice.
Over-Emphasizing defense and defensive positioning has took the offense out of the game. What a skilled player does with and without the puck, while playing offense. Has become a defensive liability for a coach that alway finds a player to fault.
No player would want to go to the dog house by getting themselves out of defensive position, by going to the net.
Putting the puck to the corner and hangout equals good grace with coach.
That's what I see.

I've seen a lot of what you are describing, and even more that's wrong, but not buying "they're not very good".
They are certainly not playing very good but this team for what ever the reasons, and I mean multiple, just cannot put enough good hockey together to get any traction.
The mistakes seem every where right now.

They're just following the 2025 losers in STL - the Redbirds and City SC. This is the perfect year to finish near the bottom of the standings.

With the way that they have been carrying themselves im still aggravated that we pulled a point out of philly and seattle. Lingering in the worst way.
A lot of players should sit, but buch should sit a game forsurr. But that prolly doesnt happen. We need every opportunity in our favor to beat a maple leafs team without AM34.

Alex and Joey were talking about a possible systemic change. The staff is trying to play a system now that was similar to Bannister’s system last year at this time. It blows my mind that this was thought of as a good idea. It failed miserably then no different now. Overemphasis on a the defensive side of the puck never works for skill players hence the lack of consistent scoring game to game. Hopefully it changes, line juggling isn’t doing it as well as there’s no help in a the A.

Missing Jake Neighbours really hurts the top 6 he's a guy with some skill and a lot of grit. Not saying the Blues are losing solely bc they don't have Jake but that's a start.
Also I wonder did the team have a self imposed cap? The Blue had space to add a veteran 3rd pair guy but they ran with Tucker, Kessel, Mailloux instead which is perplexing

Vitale’s comments don’t seem accurate. It’s hard to believe Monty is simply following Bannister’s system, especially considering that Bannister’s departure was largely tied to the opportunity to bring Monty in. Vitale’s remarks also suggest that the team isn’t fully buying into Monty’s system and prefers a different style of play.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 08:35 am Alex and Joey were talking about a possible systemic change. Regardless, these players are professionals. They’re paid to compete and execute the coach’s strategy. If they can’t or won’t adapt, then management needs to consider making changes.

Re: I’ve figured out what’s wrong with the Blues
The basic issue is this team was built to play a pressure forechecking game . They aren't going to out skill anyone they aren't big and physical so when they don't play that style they lose games. Go back to the run they went on last year and the playoff series they played well as 5 man units and they were suffocating teams with their forechecking. They were tight and cohesive. This year they look like random names coming out of a hat they are mentally weak it seems like they think they can win on pretty plays alone.
Thomas, Kyrou, Buch and Holloway do not seem willing to play hard enough to win, win puck battles, get into the crease to score they are strictly playing a soft perimeter game.
And the guys that do play pretty hard are limited as to how much they can affect a game Schenn, Sunny, Toro, Walker, Suter.
And like others have said the 3rd D pair is odd

And another factor is the roster went backwards a bit as far as skating by adding Dvorsky, Suter, Bjug, Sunny etc
