Big developmental seasons coming up for these four
Walker, Gorman, Scott II and Saggese. If at least two of the four upgrade their offensive production. It would be huge for the Cardinals. Which two have the better chances to do that? I'll opine that one will be Saggese.

Re: Big developmental seasons coming up for these four
Walker and Gorman have pretty much become reclamation project "lottery tickets" at this point.
And Scott (fringy, glove-only CF) and Saggese (utility player) probably are what they are.
Maybe the Cardinals should call up a team that otherwise has a ton of offense, like the Yankees, to see if they could offload Scott to them

"Saggese (utility player)". Did you feel that way about Burleson at one time? Many CT did posters did. Amazingly, some still seem to.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑15 Nov 2025 10:08 am Walker and Gorman have pretty much become reclamation project "lottery tickets" at this point.

Re: Big developmental seasons coming up for these four
Tough to choose based on your prior projections/comps.
Gorman: “the next Eddie Mathews”
Walker: “Frank Robinson”
Scott II: “Lou Brock”
Saggese: “Steve Garvey;” “Jeff Bagwell”

Re: Big developmental seasons coming up for these four
why are their other seasons not "Big Developmental Seasons?" And why only these 4 players? Is Mathews working on something less important than these 4? Or is Prieto doing paperwork which is less strenuous than what these 4 might be working on?
One could argue that their first season as a Pro was "Big", getting acclimated to being away from your friends and family. You're more open to rebellion, and you might forget things you just learned.
What about their 3rd seasons as a Pro? When they think no one is looking closely anymore....but they are looking. Player slacks off, and instead of a "Big Developmental Season", you get a minor setback. Like a hang nail or an ingrown hair.
What happens in the offseason of their 4th season? Do they go hunting or Whale watching? That could've been a very "Big Developmental 'Off' Season"

Because he just is what he is - a more or less competent bat who should probably be stationed at 1B, if anywhere. Good enough platoon player start vs. RHPs.Shady wrote: ↑15 Nov 2025 10:18 amWhy not? Re: Big developmental seasons coming up for these four
What a shock. Do you think it was the 42nd or 43rd repetitive thread about him that gave it away?
Re: Big developmental seasons coming up for these four
Look, if you don't see the comps between a utility IF and two 1B, one with almost 450 HR and another with almost 2600 hits, that's on you. I happen to learn a lot from Shady's comps. I'm just sad Drew Rom will become the next John Tudor for someone else.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑15 Nov 2025 10:19 amTough to choose based on your prior projections/comps.

I thought we traded Walker to Pitt for Chandler? When did the trade fall through?NYCardsFan wrote: ↑15 Nov 2025 10:19 amTough to choose based on your prior projections/comps.

Re: Big developmental seasons coming up for these four
In answer to your OP/question: I’m gonna have to go with Gorman and Walker based strictly on the fact that you comped them to inner-circle HOFers, while you only comped Saggese and Scott to mere All-Stars and outer-circle HOFers.Shady wrote: ↑15 Nov 2025 10:20 amNYCardsFan: Obsessed [shirt] disturber. So Gorman and Walker have to be the best bets based on the “baseball acumen” of the “accomplished talent evaluator” and super-scout who “sees things others don’t.”

Re: Big developmental seasons coming up for these four
Gorman will suck again. He will have a stretch again where he gets hot and people will start drooling saying see I told you he was too young to give up on he looks like a completely different hitter he’s figured it all same thing they did last season and the season before only this time they’ll add in told you bloom would get him straightened out then he will predictably go back to sucking at the end of the season his numbers will suck and in the offseason poster will say he’s only 27 that’s too young to give up on other players were 30 before they figured it out and the same cards talk calls for the let’s watch Nolan suck again show to be renewed again will come
