+/- Interesting...
Kessel +2
Joseph +1
Tucker 0
Suter 0
Everybody else -X
I think it is interesting that Kessel and Tucker look good by this flawed metric.

Kessel had a nice game last night. He gets a lot of criticism on here, and most of it is deserved, but he was solid last night. The goal was a bonus.

Not a Kessel fan but even I think he’s been ok lately. I would still like to see what Skinner can do. He played with a lot of energy in the preseason.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 11:02 am Kessel had a nice game last night. Same here. I wanted to see Skinner last night, but I guess Monty knew Kessel was going to score!Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 11:25 amNot a Kessel fan but even I think he’s been ok lately. Re: +/- Interesting...
I mean, the top four D are playing 20+ minutes per night right now.
It's sometimes easier to stay in + when you aren't on the ice as much.
There's obviously other factors that play into that but....

Re: +/- Interesting...
So Suter leads the team in points and is the only regular who averages above 13 minutes TOI who isn't a minus.
Dude is one heckuva two-way player.

Re: +/- Interesting...
You give these guys big minutes against other teams top lines and they are likely negative too.
Conversely if you put your best players against the other teams scrubs their numbers will be inflated.
The TEAM is not great right now. A 3rd/4th line guy having a decent +/- on a team in the dumpster happens all the time. It doesn't mean jack.

Re: +/- Interesting...
i know people will focus on the - in that but there's a reason people are getting upset with Kyrou/Buchy/Schenn/Hollywood. They are on the ice when the other team is scoring a lot.
I don't really blame any of our defenders at the moment. Monty tried to cover some warts with LM and he has made multiple people try and cover for him and it hasn't worked. I don't even blame LM for that. That is bad coaching. You don't keep changing things up in hopes you find something that works. Hoping isn't a strategy. It's a trap. Because even when things go the way you want them to, there's no stable ground to rest on.
I'm not a fan of Tucker or Kessel, I can get on board with Tucker being the 6/7 guy. But +/- really becomes misleading in this scenario when you look at games like last night where they literally don't get shifted for 10 minutes. Not because they aren't good, it's because those top 4 are just way way better.
People need to be looking at Faulk and Broberg right now. They are the most noticeable guys out there. They are playing really well.

Plus /Minus is a sympton, not a cause.
This team has a lot of tell tale symptoms right now.

Re: +/- Interesting...
No disagreement, I'm a BIG believer in the +/- I'm also a big believer in the Team +/- (GF vs GA). But I took his message to mean that when it's losing hockey this bad, it becomes hard to judge an individual +/-, because they could be dragged down by others, but also you have to take into account the relative difference in games played and minutes played, particularly this early in the season. Some of those blow out games or big swing in score games, maybe that person was not in the lineup exposed at all. Over time, the +/- will be big reveal on who the winners likely are.Mr.Snuggleupagus wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 19:37 pmNo it's not.
Plus hockey = winning hockey
Minus hockey = losing hockey
Simple as that.
I also agree with his view that there are "a lot of tell tale (whatever you want to call it) right now."
