I think in those five teams alone, there's potential among some of them.

I am not so sure the M's want Suarez back. He's spent about two and a half seasons in Seattle and one season was actually well above average. Another season was *barely* average, and his cameo back there this past season was--at least from a hitting standpoint--really bad. I don't know if a team like the Mariners will give him the contract he wants. I could see Arenado as a fit here. He might not hit a whole lot, but he doesn't really need to. They've got Raleigh, Julio, Arozarena, and a young Harry Ford who's one of the better prospects in the game. Nolan doesn't need to be THE guy there. They could probably survive with a defense first 3B, and if I were them, I'd be willing to gamble that being on a contender might bring a little more out of Nolan at this stage in his career.

Detroit--I don't see much of a fit there.

Phillies--It's not much of a secret that they don't really want Bohm anymore. He's been alright but he hasn't lived up to his hype. I don't think Bohm is all that happy there, either. Philly doesn't mind spending money, so I could see Arenado going there. But where's Philadelphia at now? They're an old team. Harper, Turner, Realmuto, Castellanos (for now)...do they want to get older and more expensive? Despite all of that, I see potential for something creative with Arenado here.

Rangers--I don't see it. If I were them, I'd see what Jung can do before Arenado.

Snakes--Lawlar hasn't shown much in either cup of coffee. He's probably in a similar spot there that Walker is here, but Lawlar has the luxury of being able to play any of the infield spots, and probably the outfield in a pinch. There's rumors that Marte might be on the way out of the desert. So there is definitely a world where Lawlar and and Arenado can coexist. And I could see the Snakes potentially seeing Arenado as a mentor for Lawlar. Maybe not a hands on "Look here son" type mentor, but in the "this is how a future hall of famer goes about his business" type mentor.

Rumors flying that there isn't much excitement in the market over Arenado, Gray, or Nootbaar.

It is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

1. Arenado needs to swallow his pride and accept a weak side platoon and late game defensive replacement job.
2. Cardinals need to swallow $20M and not expect much in return.
3. Dodgers need to just keep on being the Dodgers. They can afford to pay Arenado $7M x 2 years to be Muncy's platoon partner and insurance policy.
