Kudos to Faulk

Post by blues2112 »

He's been quite good — not perfect — this year. Leading team in ATOI and blocks.

Solid start both ends of ice and all situations.

For sure good to see him recover from two poor years. Was hoping to see Broberg in this place. Not so much yet.

By far, he's been the most visible and difference-making defenseman on the team this season. And for the first time in years, that's not a negative assessment. I don't know if it's health or what, but this year's Faulk is the one you always hope to see.

Hopefully he keeps it up all season.

Wait what?! Are you claiming Broberg is having a bad year so far?? If so I’d suggest watching the games. If you are watching then you need to watch closer.

Broberg has been the Blues best defender this season and one of the best story lines in a disappointing start to this season for the Blues.

I’ll give Faulk credit for improving from complete (bleep) of the previous THREE seasons but I’m not going to pretend the guy is a steady/solid top 4 + 1PP guy. Right now he’s a weak 4, strong 5 defender still making way too much.

He's weak and easy to play against.

Yep, absolutely. Likely dealing with a nagging injury because he looks better all around than he has in a while.

No "nagging injury"...it's his T-Rex arms + his low hockey IQ = bad combo

He’s a +30 since joining the Blues. He is often paired with the “leftover” defenseman and it’s a good bet that he was injured for a large part of the season (at least it seemed that way to me and a few others on the forum). I have no problem with Broberg but to trash Faulk is kinda moronic.

Wow calm down there putting words in my mouth. Not much offensively from Broberg solid on D not enough to make me pay him 8 mil a year or anything….yet. Let’s give it some time.

I tried getting people to back up off Faulk because it seemed like there was a dogpile happening. He is definitely playing better than last year. He's on a 37-40 point pace at the moment. Would be awesome for him to get to over 40. This year he is pressing the play and his shot seems to have responded. I actually think he's getting a bit unlucky with some of the opportunities he has created with his shot specifically. Bounces look to be meatballs and no one there to pick them up.

That being said, I would say in order it looks like Faulk Parayko Broberg Fowler. I think they all are kind of getting the short end of the stick from Monty. Fowler and Faulk have been asked to pick up the pieces with these other defensemen and they are being good teammates about it.

legit we might have been on to something if we would have had a better bottom pairing. Could have been a top 5-8 defense in the lague. Our metrics are saying our expected PK is number 2 and our defense is top 10 so maybe it will turn around. But if that bottom pairing was good, we would have a really dynamic blend of offense and defense coming from our 6.

Will Ovechkin take advantage of Faulk's T-Rex arms tomorrow night?

We shall see. Stay tuned.
