If Toronto wins...Do they go to the Whitehouse?

Post by CCard »

Considering the animosity between the U.S. govt and Canada, will they accept an invitation to the Whitehouse?

I would think they would let the individual players decide on if they wanted to go they would probably make their players mad if they didn’t give them a choice and it would kind of be messed up to not give them a choice on if they want to go or not

The question is, would they get an invite? The current White House occupant would be more likely to invite the WWE Smackdown Champion.

Of course he may change his mind which he often does, but President Trump has already announced he won't be inviting either team to the White House. He dislikes the politics of the Dodger's owner. Toronto is in the wrong country.

Ought they not go to a Canadian equivalent instead?

I'm not going to dip my toes into the political pond on this one. Despite any current events one way or another, wouldn't a Canadian team meet with the Canadian Prime Minister?

I wouldn't think player nationality would have anything to do with it. Plenty of Latin American players still go to the White House. It's all about where a team plays, no?

Precisely. Why on Earth would anyone think that a Canadian team would go to the White House for any reason? If a Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup, they go to Ottawa, maybe. Same with baseball. It isn't the same big deal here in Canada that it is the USA ......

Actually, he never said that. It was made up. It sounded like he’d say it, but it was shown to be false.

Yes, that would make more sense. But some bozos on here cant pass up the opportunity to throw politics into the forum. And notice the moderators haven't been quick to lock the thread.

The thread has a lot of anti incumbent comments….

If it was predominantly pro incumbent…it would have been history long ago…
