finally viewed the game, tough watch

Post by hdhntr148 »

Had church so didn't see the game but knew results and took a couple days to get courage to watch what I knew would be deeply disappointing.

MU played a outstanding game and with a semi competent OC would have won the game easily as the D was really good. Batoon had a terrific scheme in place and the Uber Hyped Pavia had his worst game since he got to Nashville. Crazy simple outside run found bunch of Tigers who should have stopped it starting with unblocked Darris Smith who didn't penetrate of contain and watched back run around and several pursuing guys ran into each other.

But what was infuriating was the red zone awful plays. Not throwing into EZ or at least throwing a go route to Speedy or the freshman boggles the mind. in the series where Beau got hurt after first play with hardy, second found 4 TE's on right side and only two defenders and none went into EZ or turned around for the oh so easy TD. Then on 3rd two TE's lined up on left side but he rolled out right where there WERE NO RECEIVERS IN EZ!!!
Fourth IF he had given it to hardy there was a seam ahead of him and he would have scored. Beau keeping it and running into closed wall of defenders and you know what happened.

First RZ trip was equally awful and showed how Kirby tightens up and chokes and is just not good enough.

Finally in fourth quarter TD from baby QB to RS frosh te . Jude emerged this game as a very reliable receiver and faster than our other TE's. good chemistry with Zollers too. BUT he did whiff when he went into motion and let rusher on end come in clean when he could have taken him out.

noticed multiple times even tho vandy was bringing blitzers a lot none of receivers were Hot or looked back and is why Beau flushed and he doesn't do well when he does. He had no quick outlets. Last week LSU had most success with TE's slipping out of line and going across or the RB's slipping out of back field gaining a lot of yards. Overall Kirby once again wasn't prepared at all for what would be successful.

Drink should fire him today and let someone with a clue take over playcalling role. He is just a guy and a just not capable of having a workable scheme for success.

Liked zollers courage on last drive and that throw was just a tad short. Did notice on his longer throws puts too much air under them and gave Vandy' defenders chances to recover. Now has two weeks to work on that now that he has some real game experience. strong arm and he zipped several really nice passes up the middle.
