Detroit Prospects - Read at your own risk

Post by a smell of green grass »

You know that team that beat us tonight.... the team with the very noticeable young prospects...

They are making it a priority to make room on their roster for more of their young prospects to play.

Imagine HAVING THAT PROBLEM! Meanwhile, in St Louis with Doug Armstrong, our prospects are not nearly ready for the NHL. Some aren't even ready for the AHL.

It's amazing to me that anyone believes that Armstrong drafts well.

The Red Wings haven't made the playoffs since three years before the Blues won the Stanley Cup.

Meanwhile we're playing Joseph who skates fast and nothing else and bringing in slugs like Bjugstad who's a great guy on/off the ice and nothing else. Throw in Sunny, that's three spots that could go to prospects, but this is a Cup contending team that needs to play vets to win, according to Army and Monty.

We just went through a 2+ year re-whatever.
Army called the re-whatever "over".

And yet, when there is dire need on the NHL roster 1+ year later, what happens?

Not a single play acquired during the great re-whatever is ready to play. Nor do they show potential better than average.

But Army is the great draft guru....

I actually agree in that I think playing kids is ultimately the right move, it probably means you lose more but it also means your youth has time to play against professional level talent and get better. I would like to see us play the young guys more and sit some of the less hungry vets, but I am not the coach and the priorities of the team is be competative now so… vets it is!
