Zollers beats out Heisman whisperer...

Post by JackBolly »

...Zollers played under 16 mins and beat out the performance of Pavia who played the whole 60 mins. Zollers QBR - 93.6, Pavia QBR - 60.1

Yeah and Drinkwitz has better hair than Lea but does that really matter?

Zollers looked calm and stood in the pocket. Pribula has a panic attack every time he drops back. This may be a blessing in disguise.

If it wasn’t for that bad handoff, I think he probably leads Mizzou to the win.

We are going to find out about Zollers, because Pribula is going to be out for an extended period. But the first look this game is encouraging. He made some good throws in tough situations, and it didn't seem like the moment was too big for him. He will make mistakes, but he may turn out to be at least as effective as Pribula has been the last few games. If the offensive line can suck it up and give him protection (and open up a few holes for the running backs), there is no reason why Mizzou can't win 2-3 more games. Their playoff hopes are technically still alive but they have to win out, and to be honest they just have too many weaknesses to be a playoff team, most notably the o-line and the kicker (or the lack of confidence in their kicker). But maybe Zollers isn't one of the weaknesses.

It doesn't take long to see Zollers is already the most talented QB of the Drinkwitz era.

He has the tools, size, arm, confidence and the it factor.

He has the chance to give a program elite QB play needed to reach the summit.

All he needs is reps.

I agree. The key is the mental aspect, will he eventually get panicky and happy feet in the pocket after getting hit over and over? He stood in there and looked great Saturday. He honestly had outstanding feel, moving around as necessary but kept his eyes downfield. He made a few mistakes but there couldn’t have been a more difficult situation to be thrown into. And he does throw a great ball.

I think he’s going to be a great one.

The injury will allow a true look at Zoller who never would have seen the field again this year. A potential blessing in disguise.

And I'm not giving up on this team either Zoller may actually be the better qb, he certainly was last night.

I’ll wager Zollers is a much better pocket passer just watching him throw. Yet to be seen if he’ll be as effective running the ball. That said, on the few runs he had he looked pretty good doing that too.

Pribula is still really good, but he started to hear footsteps in the pocket and couldn’t get through his reads and complete passes down field. Hopefully Zollers doesn’t do that too.

As MU's QB coach sucks and Beau had regressed after an excellent start, was getting happy feet and looking to run too much. Zollers is more your classic pocket passer who CAN run when opening there.

Could be net gain as the Woeful Kirby Moore who has definitely lost his FB and was too willing to run Beau into traffic and IGNORE the very obvious holes in secondary when they are loading the box to stop the run. Now SHOULD be throwing more IF Running attack isn't dominant and against Aggies it won't be.

Anyway this season could still turn out good and give the kid some seasoning. I do wonder if they signed Beau to one year contract and if so IF the kid shines will allow him to move on next season or keep him as backup or do QB competition and see if he progressed in off season. Losing their top two QB's with several years in power 4 experience and their very good placekicker replaced with freshmen is going to be tough with the brutal schedule remaining.

Anyway it is what it is and Go MU FB! Love to be the first to knock off the Aggies. Plus Mateer and OU offense proved ordinary in a pivotal game for them.

Hopefully Moore doesn't run him as much with no depth now.
