So now we are stuck with Army's "retool"
I wanted him to go full rebuild 2 years ago by trading Buch, Parayko and Binnington...could have gotten a royal haul for the 3 of them. Now we
are too far along to retreat, and I'm not sure we are better than a team that consistently loses in the 1st round. Hope I'm wrong.

We can agree to disagree your plan doesnt make sense. The Blues were 2 seconds from the 2nd round last year. The Blues dont need to tank to draft a Snuggerud who is nationally mentioned for Calder, then its Neighbours,Thomas, Kyrou, Stenberg, Dvorsky, Lindstein etc why would the Blues want to "tank" for a decade and put their fans thru this? I would much rather see a playoff team than gamble for a top 5 pick.
Re: So now we are stuck with Army's "retool"
In the immortal words of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "You can't always get what you want". Particularly when you have no control and no say in matters. Look at it this way, the Blues are ahead of your schedule already by one playoff series, which well could have been two. Your hoped for plan likely lags by years.

Re: So now we are stuck with Army's "retool"
More playing both sides. Worst part about the trolls and haters that hope the Blues tank, is that they want the Blues to lose so they can say "I told you." And when the Blues win, they get to see a winner. No skin in the game. Some would even say they are fools gold. Their opinion is worth 0 value because they don't back it up.
Example being a couple of our trolls who have made statements about IF and WHEN the team wins they will go away. They don't. Just like this comment, "I hope I'm wrong." Do you? You just hedged your bets and said the team should have tanked and should have traded it's best players. How does a team get better if they throw away a contract like Parayko where the other 31 teams in the league would love to take it? Even the teams that stink would take that contract because it would be a pathway to not being a bottom feeder.
Can't make this stuff up anymore.

Rebuilding doesn't mean tanking for a decade...that's a false statement. It means contending for the Cup every decade instead of once every 50 years.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 10:07 amson_of_foolsgold wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 09:59 am I wanted him to go full rebuild 2 years ago by trading Buch, Parayko and Binnington...could have gotten a royal haul for the 3 of them. assslorrd, smellyass, bleeder, verson why do you have such horrible takes, I can say they are horrible cause you are the only one who agrees with it unless you include one of your socks responding in back. Re: So now we are stuck with Army's "retool"
4 of the top 5 scores for the Panthers in the playoffs last year were drafted by someone else.
Re: So now we are stuck with Army's "retool"
Little early to call the retool a failure. Most of the guys we selected as part of the retool haven't hit the roster yet. I think the most pressure is on Dvorsky because we desperately need a 2C. That's followed by Mailloux or Jiricek showing they can develop into top 4D RD in the next couple of seasons to replace Faulk. We're going to start rolling in better options on the third line with Stenberg and Carbonneau next year.

A full rebuild would mean....son_of_foolsgold wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 09:59 am I wanted him to go full rebuild 2 years ago by trading Buch, Parayko and Binnington...could have gotten a royal haul for the 3 of them. Now we

The Blues would have at least 1 TOP5 pick that they selected on their roster - LIKE EVERY PLAYOFF TEAM THIS YEAR, EXCEPT THE BLUES. Florida and Edmonton have 2 TOPS picks.
The Blues would not have Buchnevich for 5 more years, and we would not have to worry about 5 more playoff exits off his stick.
The Blues could have kept Bolduc.
So YES. A full rebuild would have been the smart thing to do for future success.
Partial rebuilds help at the cash register, and that is the ONLY REASON for doing it.
Re: So now we are stuck with Army's "retool"
LOL. When a team embarks on a rebuild there is no certainty as to when they again become a contender (could be a loooong time). Sure it would be nice. There are no guarantees. The difficulty in reaching Cup Finals with 32 teams and a salary cap is why you see teams fighting to keep their window open as long as possible.son_of_foolsgold wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 10:14 amRebuilding doesn't mean tanking for a decade...that's a false statement. You're posing a fool's argument, which somehow seems fitting.

Can you do a book report on how Mikkola moved from a mediocre team that needs defense to a Cup team that is overflowing with defense?

Although true, the Jets had the worst goaltending of the playoffs in that series and the Blues still choked hard.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 10:07 am We can agree to disagree your plan doesnt make sense. The Blues were 2 seconds from the 2nd round last year.

They played over 16 minutes into the SECOND OT. That is not a choke, it's a heck of an effort.theograce wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 14:21 pmAlthough true, the Jets had the worst goaltending of the playoffs in that series and the Blues still choked hard.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 10:07 am We can agree to disagree your plan doesnt make sense.
