What if Bolduc scores 40 this season?
A distinct possibility, as over the last 30 games (not counting playoffs), Bolduc's goal scoring pace has been among the best in the league. His
current pace over those 30 games is in the high 40s.
Army will have destroyed his career over this one trade; it would go down in history as one of the worst ever. I'd hate to see that happen.

I don't care if Bolduc scores 40, 10, or 50, he's not a member of the Blues. And no, that will not destroy Army's career. Not at all.

If Bolduc scores 82 goals this year, and Mailloux finishes at -50, I will wear a hat that says "Smelly was right".
Now, can we stop constantly hyperventilating over every goal or defensive misplay until we get to that point, please?

You mean you will never stop kissing Army's behind, because neither of those two things is going to happen.Army's Mom wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 10:01 am If Bolduc scores 82 goals this year, and Mailloux finishes at -50, I will wear a hat that says "Smelly was right".

Serious question, though: what are the stakes? What possible outcome could cause a fan to proclaim a trade a bust after mere months, when neither player has even hit their potential peak?
Would you consider it a win if Mailloux wins the Calder? Scores 30 pts while averaging 20 minutes of even hockey? But what if Bolduc nets 30 at the same time? Is there anything Mailloux could do to win you over? Or will Bolduc always be better in your eyes?
For me, there is NOTHING Bolduc is likely to do in Year 1 that would convince me trading for a defenseman (who won't peak for another 4 to 5 years) is a mistake. If Bolduc pots 40 this year and Mailloux winds up a 30 pt defender playing 25 minutes of plus hockey in three years, I'd be happy with the exchange.
If Mailloux never approaches 30pts while playing sound defense (enough to get 20 minutes a night and maintain an even plus-minus), I'll be disappointed in him. I wouldn't feel happier about it if Bolduc also turns out to be JAG.
This isn't about Army. It's about what's best for the Blues.
Re: What if Bolduc scores 40 this season?
I wouldn't care in the least bit because what he does has zero impact on the team I root for, which is the Blues. I wouldn't be happy, I wouldn't be sad. No different than what any other non-Blues player would do.

He completely disappeared in the playoffs as well, or does that requirement only apply to certain players? (Not directed at you DD, just quoted your post)

Then it could only be interpreted as an awful trade. Time will have to tell though.

Why do you care? The Blues as an organization decided to move on from Bolduc. Matter of fact they decided to accelerate his departure from the organization and that by the way is very telling.son_of_foolsgold wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 09:50 am A distinct possibility, as over the last 30 games (not counting playoffs), Bolduc's goal scoring pace has been among the best in the league. Re: What if Bolduc scores 40 this season?
If Bolduc scores 40 hes going to get a massive long term deal and it would again blow apart the "Top 5" draft, tank blah blah blah. We know Bolduc is going to do well because the Blues drafted and developed him.
The Blues have Kyrou, Buch, Holloway, Snuggerud and Neighbours who will also be getting paid. Cant keep em' all, get ready because Bolduc wont likely be the last popular Blues kid thats dealth

A lot of people more worried about the name on the back than the crest on the front.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 10:22 amWhy do you care? Next season, what if Snuggerud scores 30-40. What if Neighbours scores 25 ish again and Holloway scores 30? How do the Blues keep all the scoring forwards they haveJohn Cocktoastin wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 10:18 am Then it could only be interpreted as an awful trade. Time will have to tell though.

Isnt that what this entire debate is "what if"? What if Bolducs scoring continues, it may not or it may, remains to be seen. What if Mailloux is only a fringe 3rd pair guy? What if Mailloux is a solid top 4 RHD?John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 10:28 amA lot of what ifs here. Re: What if Bolduc scores 40 this season?
I've seen many of the Blues players I rooted for get traded. Berenson, Ecclestone, St. Marseille, Roberts, Crisp, Plante, just to name a few. Unger, Liut, Mullen, Gilmour, Ramage, Benning, even Federko. Quite a few left to name, several decades worth. Should I continue or have I made my point?
Plante even got traded for . . . CASH. I don't recollect him ever scoring a goal or blocking a shot.
