Any possibility that Bloom retained Oli for 2026 and pursuing Yadi for staff coach for this scenario ?
Bloom has not named a GM yet to be his No. 2 man .. (He has Cerfolio as Asst. GM who could get promotion but nothing yet .. there is a Tampa asst. GM named Carlos Rodriguez who has ties with Bloom is leaving Tampa to pursue new challenge ).
Would Bloom have retained Oli for 2026 for this possible scenario ? Let Oli manage the team for 2026 with Yadi getting full time bench coach (whatever to get a full year under his belt ). Then at end of 2026 Bloom announces that Oli will be stepping down as manager to be named GM of the Cardinals working under Bloom and simultaneously announce that Yadier Molina has agreed to be manager of the Cardinals.
That way Oli stays with the organization that he has been for quite a few years.
I know it's far fetched possibly but Bloom seems to get along with Oli and Bloom may want him working with him in the front office . Plus Bloom would get the opportunity to get Molina should all go well with his coaching for 2026.
Some may say .. well why not make the move this offseason but Bloom could be thinking , it gives me this first year of the rebuild to see Yadi on the job as coach to make my final determination if I feel he is the guy I want as my manager moving forward . He has one year remaining on Oli's deal so why not take advantage of the situation .
An outside the box thought on Bloom /Oli/ Yadi situation ..

Re: An outside the box thought on Bloom /Oli/ Yadi situation ..
First, BDWJr made the call on Oli as there was no way in what Dewitt see's as a throwaway 2026 he was going to pay Oli to sit on his a z z AND pay another Manager.
Second, oh H E L L no to Oli being named GM unless it's in a "M. Girsh" like capacity where he gets Bloom's coffee and lunch.
Even though it's being spun Oli wanted Yadi to come in for those weekends (and I know, blah--blah--blah their friends
) I think instead it was Bloom who wanted to gauge Yadi's interest.
Now Bloom has initiated talks w/Yadi about becoming a FT coach, giving him some major league experience and allowing Bloom to see how effective he is working w/the players, handling the media, ect....
I see this as an audition, making Yadi one of the top candidates (Pretty sure Bloom will explore all avenues) for the job after Oli's contract expires end of 2026 season.
Oli isn't stupid, he has to know Yadi wants and is coming for his job as he's made it clear he wants to Manage and (duh!) the Cardinals are in his blood and the team he'd want.

Yadi becomes manager in 2027, we go to the NLCS in 2028 and get to the WS in 2029.

Possibly assessing Molina to see whether he has the temperament to manage full time. It's a grind and he doesn't need the money.

How about Yadi work with all our young catchers.
