Absolutely. I would say since the moment Jay-Bo had the cardiac arrest specifically. Petro walked a few months later.

I'm also getting excited to see this 2nd PP unit with Mailloux and Faulk manning the points, Holloway Kyrou Neighbours.
Wild we aren't even using Broberg on PP (yet!)

Re: Broberg crushed the Pre Season, more good things to come
I am guessing that his injury left him rustier than he imagined he would be (welcome to the NHL kid), and his offense was not even at the same level it was before. I remember him being clocked on a rush before the injury and the announcers were stunned at the reading of his speed.
I cannot think of any other defenseman his size with his speed and agility. Since I dig aesthetics... he is as graceful as I have ever seen a top-notch NHL Defeman of his size and speed... ever.
That wraparound should be replayed as a sleight-of-hand lesson for aspiring magicians.

That was the beginning of the decline, for sure. Scandella filled in well enough that I'd say that unit was still better overall (defensively for certain) until Covid hit. The current unit still needs to prove it's an upgrade over last season, though I'd say expectations are realistically high.
The current group of defensemen can and should challenge for the league lead in goals. They need to be up near the top and they need to improve defensively. The talent is there.

Really excited to see this d corp play. Broberg is looking better than we were hoping for. And what we saw in pre-season was a Broberg-Mailloux pairing was new guy pre-season rookie Mailloux defense pairing. If that is them stumbling around in the dark together.....this will be a lot of fun for the fans.

two goals in one shift in a preseason game will do that
looking forward to seeing Broberg in these first seven games which are all in the West. We need a good start before we start playing the East for a couple months

Really wish Sunny would be in there as the 4th center Thrs night. He is a much bigger presence than Bjugstad sucks to lose him again but it sounds like Sunny will back after the road trip at least.seattleblue wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 11:22 am two goals in one shift in a preseason game will do that

Just hoping we see Bro and Mailloux on some pp units as the season goes on.
Lethal shots from the point and we all know about the bonus dirty goals that can follow.

I know what you're saying. In hockey you need some bristle to your responses and as he fills out & gets confident he has to do that more. Parayko has come a ways on this tootheograce wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 12:56 pmLooking forward to him sticking up for himself. The more ice time/significance … the more he will face it from the bullies/alphas. He will need to find his way. That Binnington thing last year was hilarious in a bad wayseattleblue wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 13:09 pmI know what you're saying. He was one of the best dmen in the preseason by the numbers. He started strong last year too. The question is whether he can sustain high level play and increasing roles. He was not able to do so last year but very excited about his potential.

You rip on a young DMan on the Blues for needing to be more tough yet worship a former Blues defenseman who played 1200+ games and NEVER got into a fight. You can’t even keep your stories straight.theograce wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 13:14 pmThe more ice time/significance … the more he will face it from the bullies/alphas. He will need to find his way. It’s not about fighting for these guys in the NHL lol. So dumb. Keep devoting your post historyBubble4427 wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 15:57 pmYou rip on a young DMan on the Blues for needing to be more tough yet worship a former Blues defenseman who played 1200+ games and NEVER got into a fight.
