Blues have Binnie and Hofer for two years, and Hofer for more years afterword if they want him.

Sabres have several goalies. Luukkonen is out day-to-day, but where does Ellis go when he comes back. They also have Georgiev and Alex Lyon.

It sounds like they have to keep Ellis on the roster for 30 days before sending him down and he does have to pass through waivers to do that.

This is a desperate move by the Sabres but goalies are so hard to get a read on. Many of them just need the opportunity so I assume Ellis will get some games in. Maybe the Blues can claim him if Buff tries to send him down

This tells me there’s a good chance Ellis will find himself on waivers again once UPL is healthy and we can simply claim him back and then send him to Springfield.

No guarantee that happens but that sort of thing happens pretty often. Let’s hope we can get him back relatively soon.
