Cards hit 148 HRs, allowed 170
This eliminates the park factor because all the games we played in we both hit and pitched in the same stadium that our opponents played in.
Granted, our pitching was below average, but by rankings our hitting was even more below average. Which all indicates to a very large extent, that our 29th ranking in HRs is more due to the players than to the park factor.
Put someone *like* Judge in this lineup and he would still be exactly the same power hitter in a different park. He hit only 26 HRs at Yankee compared to 27 HRs on the road this season. We can't keep blindly blaming Busch for our lack of power.

Saggese was looking to be a budding power hitter in Springfield, I was told. Same thing I've been told for years about Statcast hero Noot. Donovan was said to be focusing on more power. Where is it? Gorman has power, but can't put the bat on the ball enough. Walker, forget about it as his LA sucks. And Scott approaches hitting as if he has power when he doesn't. Burly's HRs dropped from 21 to 18. Winn's dropped from 15 to 9. Something is rotten in this organization. And at the MLB level. Brant Brown has his defenders on here, but he needs to go.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑05 Oct 2025 12:17 pm This eliminates the park factor because all the games we played in we both hit and pitched in the same stadium that our opponents played in.

29th in homers ahead of only the Pirates. You can win without homeruns, the Brewers only had about 20 more than the Cardinals. But most contending teams hit 200+ homers. The Cardinals need to add a couple 30 plus homer types to get there.
Not happening in 2026, but they need to have a plan to fix that going into 2027.

The Cardinals have fielded one of the least productive outfields in baseball for the last few years. We will continue that offensive failure as long as we continue to run Nootbaar, Scott and Walker out there as our outfielders. We need starting pitching but we have to add at least one outfielder and realistically two.

And Pirates owner has already said they will add position players this off season. Brewers had a great regular season but unless then win the WS it doesn’t matter. Power pitching and hitting has been the proven formula to win the WSJohnnyMO wrote: ↑05 Oct 2025 13:44 pm 29th in homers ahead of only the Pirates. I wonder whether the Cardinals even tried to sign Teoscar Hernandez. He was relatively cheap and has come up with huge hits and HRs for the Dodgers.

Both are true. We don't have any power hitters and Busch is a terrible park for home runs. Move the fences in.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑05 Oct 2025 12:17 pm This eliminates the park factor because all the games we played in we both hit and pitched in the same stadium that our opponents played in.

He signed a three-year, $66 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers icon w/deferred (what else it's the Dodgers) money.
BTW, I fully expect this Dodger deferred money c ra p to be a BIG issue in the new CBA negotiations.
It's one thing to defer $3/4M a year, another to defer hundreds of millions like the Dodgers are doing.
There needs to be a limit.

There is the issue. The infield is OK and deep. But the OF lacks hitting. No contender has an OF lacking in production that badly.Whatashame wrote: ↑05 Oct 2025 15:21 pm The Cardinals have fielded one of the least productive outfields in baseball for the last few years. And don't start on pitching. Also lacking.
I hope no one is expecting 2026 to be a big reversal. it will take time to fix this.

Moving the fences in would be harmful to Cardinals pitchers who already give up more HR’s than they hit.alw80 wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025 06:03 amBoth are true.
