No, you and I will not see another Cardinal World Series. We were fortunate to live in a time when this franchise was at its peak. Now, it has settled for being a business and nothing more. If the Cardinals win a few, ownership makes money. If it loses a few, then tax write off.

I’ve been very privileged to be a Cardinal fan for many years. The highlight was taking my 11 year old son to game 7 of the 1982 World Series. It was magical. We went on the field with thousands of other fans after the last out. Stood at home plate. Stood on the pitcher’s mound. 1985 and 1987 were exciting years. And the cherries on top of the sundae were 2006 and 2011. The Freese miracle? It simply doesn’t get any better than that.

So would it be nice to win another WS? Sure. For younger fans who haven’t experienced that delight.
