Mikolas "pleading" with Cards to resign him via free agency
https://sports.yahoo.com/article/ex-sta ... 13502.html
Unflippingbelievable. This guy ran his mouth, talked sh*t that he could never back up, and provided a fraction of the value he was actually paid, and now he's apparently begging the Cards to resign him?
What so he can keep the Cards further mired in mediocrity while he increases his multi-millionaire status comfortably? You want to bring fans back to the stadium, Bloom, here's your perfect opportunity to show you're done with the d*pshits who brought the team down.
I hope Bloom makes Mikolas cry with how hard he rejects him. I can't stand this dude. What a loser.

I swear to any and all deities that if Mikolas comes back, I'm D-O-N-E with Cardinal baseball. I'm only so loyal. Surely this is just Michael Busch and that hotdogging slime PCA in a very large coat with a Mikolas mask on.
Also, man, just go to Japan. You can still make bank there and then I never have to think of you ever again.

Only if it's for league minimum
Re: Mikolas "pleading" with Cards to resign him via free agency
This is all Mikolas said:
It's an awful, clickbait headline and Mikolas said very little beyond what any longtime team member would say at the end of their contract. I doubt it's much different than what Goldy said last year."I'm too optimistic to fully commit to the idea that I'm not coming back. There's 29 other teams, but I think it's pretty well known what my favorite colors are — (I'm a) Cardinal red kind of guy. If this is my last one, then I really did cherish my time here and couldn't have been happier to be a part of this organization for the last eight years."

Mikolas made it known that he is more than comfortable with this club. But if he is to play elsewhere next season, he wanted to make it clear that he appreciated his time with the Cardinals.
Each person can decide what 'pleading ' is ... to me pleadiing is someone begging , please please to for the other person to do something .
In reading Mikolas quote, He expressed how he would like to return and that Cardinals is his favorite team . He understands he may be playing elsewhere too.
The 'pleading' in the headline was to generate attention to read the article and the OP certainly jumped on it . Reading the article was far from 'pleading' by Mikolas IMO

did you read the article you linked? that's a clickbait headline. he's basically just saying he'd love to come back but he's appreciated his time here whatever happens. he's certainly not begging in the article. simmer down and read beyond the headline. i certainly don't want him back but i see nothing in the article that upsets meblackinkbiz wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 12:21 pm https://sports.yahoo.com/article/ex-sta ... 13502.html

After how little he did in relation to his last couple salaries, he should pay the Cardinals to bring him back

Clickbait works so well because it plays on emotions and incites powerful response and creates desire to engage, while the site sells a [shirt] ton of ads.ramfandan wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 12:33 pmThe writer chose to use the word 'pleading' in the titleblackinkbiz wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 12:21 pm https://sports.yahoo.com/article/ex-sta ... 13502.html

If people would remain calm and vigilant they would easily see through this tactic and the trash news would stop gaining so much traction and eventually be abandoned as a marketing strategy.
Of course, our entire news landscape uses this like the Jedi mind trick.
Re: Mikolas "pleading" with Cards to resign him via free agency
Yes….. and bring back Fedde too……
Did one of you comment….for league minimum??
The object is to have PITCHERS who can get HITTERS OUT……Get HITTERS OUT…..HITTERS OUT
Has this fan base been so abused and brain washed that it doesn’t know what a good MLB player looks like

Agree that the use of the word “pleading” is a major stretch.Adam2 wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 12:52 pmdid you read the article you linked? that's a clickbait headline. he's basically just saying he'd love to come back but he's appreciated his time here whatever happens. he's certainly not begging in the article. simmer down and read beyond the headline. i certainly don't want him back but i see nothing in the article that upsets meblackinkbiz wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 12:21 pm https://sports.yahoo.com/article/ex-sta ... 13502.html

Based on his quotes I’d say:
1) He loved playing here.
And
2) His preference would be to stay here.
As of today...and with the belief that they will look to go younger ....I’d put his chances at a return as being very slim.
A lot of dominos would have to fall(Gray traded, etc) for him to be back and even then I’d expect it to be incentive laden one year deal.
Perhaps even a minor league deal??

Re: Mikolas "pleading" with Cards to resign him via free agency
Yes-yes-yes... I read the article. And, no, the Mikolas quote from Yahoo he didn't appear to be "pleading" for the Cards to resign him.
BUT...!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He KNOWS the Cards MO is a full rebuild and youth movement. He KNOWS he's not the type of player that is in the Cardinals future right now. And last, he ABSO-F'N-LUTELY! KNOOOOOWWSS the performance he brought in the last contract extension was a pittance compared to what he was being paid. He was in the bottom 5% of MLB starters the past 2 seasons.
To even dare to have the audacity to hope that the fanbase he talked sh*t to and the team he just raped across the coals for years would even consider giving him more money to be one of the worst starters in MLB all because he "feels comfortable" here... Eat sh*t, Miles and I HOPE the door gets stuck up your *ss on the way out.

I’m with you Strummer…..if this new FO is as stupid as the last and bring back one the worst SP in MLB at 37….during the “rebuild”…..I’m done.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 12:27 pm I swear to any and all deities that if Mikolas comes back, I'm D-O-N-E with Cardinal baseball. And it won’t take much considering my current viewing and give a chit….

If it doesn't fit on a bumper sticker, most folks won't read it. If it doesn't incite a riot, it gets buried.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 13:02 pmClickbait works so well because it plays on emotions and incites powerful response and creates desire to engage, while the site sells a [shirt] ton of ads.ramfandan wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 12:33 pmThe writer chose to use the word 'pleading' in the titleblackinkbiz wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 12:21 pm https://sports.yahoo.com/article/ex-sta ... 13502.html
