How time flies. BTW, down here in the South references to "Jeff Gordon" are interpreted quite differently.

Good Luck in retirement. Your writing and sense of humor will be missed.

Agreed. He always seemed willing to add to the amount of Blues coverage, at a time when internet blogs didn't exist to sate our appetites for increased coverage.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 09:54 am guy caught a lot of unnecessary flak from folks. always appreciated his humor and coverage of the blues

One way he impacted me is I always say "[Name of State], we hardly knew ye" whenever I cross a state border. I would do it when I was walking too. Did it just last year when I drove a UHaul* north out of California with the last of our stuff

I still use 900 year old (name) in my everyday speech when referring to an aged player.seattleblue wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 10:48 am One way he impacted me is I always say "[Name of State], we hardly knew ye" whenever I cross a state border. I enjoyed his work over the years. And his character on film too.
I'm sure retirement is welcome but kind of a shame some of these guys can't do a piece from time to time afterwards....if they were so inclined.

Re: OT: Jeff Gordon
Gordo pushed hockey in this town when very few in the media would. There were times where the Blues would be in a tight playoff race and their game story would be on the bottom of the front sports page while the P-D’s top story was focused on who was going to fill the 25th spot on the Cards’ roster with a meaningless Spring Training game getting more coverage as well.
Good luck in retirement, Jeff, well earned

Re: OT: Jeff Gordon
Met Jeff about 30 years ago at Walden’s Books at Mid Rivers mall sitting at a table. I recognized him at talked some Blues hockey. A woman leaned over and told him someone knew who you are. In his Monday column there was a meet and greet at Walden’s with Jeff Gordon and people came to meet the NASCAR driver and found a middle aged man.
