Brew crew wins the Central
Reliever Santillan walked two in the 9th but K's PCA to end the game, as Reds shut out the small bears 1-0 to give Milwaukee the Division title, and Cincinnati also ties the Mets for the third wild card spot! Reds sweep the 4 game set from the cubs!
Re: Brew crew wins the Central
was watching the Brewer players cheering for the Reds to get that final out. What struck me was ... Be careful what you wish for , Brewers !
Now that the Reds are tied with the Cubs, if Reds get the last wildcard spot and then beat the Dodgers in wildcard , the Brewers will play the Reds in the divisional series ! Repeating .. Be careful what you wish for , Milwaukee !

PS Brewers will host the Reds in the final 3 games in Milwaukee. Those games may decide if Reds get in the playoffs.

Re: Brew crew wins the Central
It would be hilarious if in Mos last season the reds brewers and cubs all make the playoffs and the only central division teams not to make the post season are the cardinals and pirates
Re: Brew crew wins the Central
Then Mo would say .. see we (the Cards) were in a very tough division this year . We had to play three playoff teams in our own division multiple timesOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑21 Sep 2025 17:20 pm It would be hilarious if in Mos last season the reds brewers and cubs all make the playoffs and the only central division teams not to make the post season are the cardinals and pirates

7th postseason appearance in the last 8 years.
NL Central Champs 4 of the last 5.
All with a payroll in the bottom 3rd of the league.

And consistently bounced early as their team isn’t built for playoff success based on financial constraints.todd-parker wrote: ↑21 Sep 2025 20:18 pm 7th postseason appearance in the last 8 years.

And they still go nowhere in the playoffs. Have never won a World Series and have only been to 1, and we all know which one that was. This is not the model franchise a lot of people think it is.todd-parker wrote: ↑21 Sep 2025 20:18 pm 7th postseason appearance in the last 8 years.

Since 2018 :
Four times 2019 , 2020, 2023, &I 2024 the Brewers were in the Wildcard spot and lost . (in 2019, it was a one game playoff with Nationals)
So 0-4 .000 in wildcard position
In 2018, the Brewers defeated the Cubs in the Division Series and in the NLCS lost to the Dodgers 4 games to 3
In 2021, the Brewers lost to Atlanta in the Division Series ... 3 games to 1
So 1-1 .500 advancing when in the NLDS since 2018
So a poor record overall . The Wildcard spot has been really bad news for Brewers . In 2025, they get to avoid that bracket.

They have the smallest market size in MLB. Their organization is well run and they make savvy decisions about their roster, often dictated by their payroll restrictions. They are similar to Tampa Bay in the AL, who also put a competitive team on the field more often than not, even without a large fan base and payroll.icon wrote: ↑22 Sep 2025 03:19 amAnd they still go nowhere in the playoffs. They have recently lost two starting pitchers and their closer to injury. It is still unknown whether these players will be able to pitch in the playoffs. Obviously could be a huge factor in their ability to advance in the postseason.

Mets finish with Cubs and Marlins.
Reds finish with Bucs and Brew.
Would love to see the Soto/Lindor/Alonso payroll home for the playoffs.
Re: Brew crew wins the Central
now I'm just hoping for them to be one and done - I like my chances
