VS II

Post by nebfan »

Is anyone else tired of seeing Scott II coming up to bat? WE traded Harrison Bader who is coming into his own and got Jordan Montgomery who in turn brought us Thomas Saggesse, let's complete the circle and sign Bader back to play CF and provide some right handed offense

“Bader is coming into his own!”

That often happens in year 9.

We already have other CF's who can do what Bader does. His only advantage is hitting right handed, but he is going to hit .240 with little power. I'd rather see Church get the AB's.

Bader had a .650 OPS in 2022 in 2023 a .622 OPS in 2023 and a .657 OPS in 2024 so cards should keep Scott because if they trade him in three years he could have a good season and you will be saying why did they trade Scott he’s coming into his own? Bader isn’t coming into his own he’s having a good season and will back to what he is next season

Yeah, that would’ve been a hell of a long wait and an undeserved (at the time) contract extension that would’ve caused deserved widespread fan angst.

Coming into his own at at 31. Right about the time you really want to go after a guy and sign him to a big contract.

I am tired to see VSII come to bat with runners on 1st & 2nd nobody out attempting to bunt where our team is trailing by 3 or more runs.

Giving up an out to move two guys over when the team is down by a bunch late in a game.
Need a big scoring inning and because the manager can't trust him to hit away has to play small ball . No wonder the team cant score more runs.

Yeah, this joker thinks an obvious outlier career year right before an inevitable age-based decline is "coming into his own."

Harry 2022 - 2024:
.239 .284 .360 .644

Harry 2025:
.283 .356 .460 .816
(Best season of his career)

Needs a contract, in his walk season..................smells like PED's.

I am tired of seeing him with runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out and trailing by 5 runs getting up there to bunt. Yes, moving the runners over can be great when a run or two down but when you need a lot of runs, I look for guys to keep the inning going with a hit and play for the big inning. Oli knows Scott can't hit worth beans so we are left with him bunting a big % of the time it seems.

He needs to learn how to bunt for a hit, and quit trying to be a power hitter. He could also study film of Vince Coleman and learn to slap pitches on the ground to the left side and run like hell.

VSII can improve his bunting if he works at it every frickin day. Obviously he doesn't know how to bunt, has no idea where the ball is going when he tries to bunt.
His failure to bunt is echoed by basically everyone on the team. What a failure by the organization as a whole. Indefensible and inexplicable negligence. Everyone should be able to bunt. Good grief. FUNDAMENTALS!

+1

Bunting more and hitting down on the ball (keeping it on the ground more) to utilize his great speed could lead to more infield hits.

Let the power come later in his career after he's learned how to get on base!

Scott already possess elite defense and base stealing speed, those are two strong assets to build upon.

Not ready to give up on him yet like some seem ready to do.

People act like he looks as hopeless as JW up there. His issues are much more easily fixed, he basically has the opposite problem of JW and it's much easier to learn how to become a slap-hitter than a launch angle star.
