Chaim Bloom breakdown: What will it take to help him become successful. Is he now the most important figure in the org.
What should this man be given right away:
Is it money and resources?
Is it control?
Is it time?
A combination of all three.
How much confidence is there with you guys that he can actually make a difference here?
Do we know this is in fact the guy or are we just hoping he's the guy?
Please provide examples as to why this man is what the Cardinals need at this time.
He has a big problem, and I am just wondering if he's capable of solving it.

How can you give time for the moment. Can’t happen. So time is out. Control of all operations is critical. And then money.Bully4you wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 05:55 am What should this man be given right away:

He has been running the show this season if you haven't figured it out. Mozeliak publicly said we would add at the late July trade date but instead with the team in wild card contention we sold.
I'm not impressed at this point but we'll see. Perhaps he has a master plan. Or perhaps Boston was right.

I mentioned time, because maybe he has all other attributes and that is all he will need.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 06:24 amHow can you give time for the moment. Can’t happen. He may be a baseball savant and maybe will have full control with plentiful resources to follow.
So, maybe time is all that is required.
As in don't fire him too early.
That was my point.

Good point. I was using an abundance of time it will take, injected into a now moment. Your point is better.Bully4you wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 07:33 amI mentioned time, because maybe he has all other attributes and that is all he will need.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 06:24 amHow can you give time for the moment. I am not sure about him having full control this year.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 06:31 am He has been running the show this season if you haven't figured it out. Mozeliak publicly said we would add at the late July trade date but instead with the team in wild card contention we sold.

So, do you think he will be the right guy to tackle this thing?sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 07:35 amGood point. I was using an abundance of time it will take, injected into a now moment. I don't know much about him, but a few on here seem to think he'll be great.

He's had time for two years now to figure out the organization. That should be enough. What he needs is autonomy. Bill has to let him work. Hands off. It's Bloom's time to shine.

All three are important. I do get that the bargaining agreement coming up might wisely restrict spending. I will also add that decision on manager is about third or fourth on my priority list. Honestly Bloom could not walk into a more difficult situation.

I’m like you, I’m clueless to whether he can handle the job. He kinda came in CT anointed.Bully4you wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 07:37 amSo, do you think he will be the right guy to tackle this thing?sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 07:35 amGood point. I don't know much about him, but a few on here seem to think he'll be great.
His problem is- does he pull from the pool of established vets in the leagues, 780 players, or do they try the development process from a different angle.
Taking players from the pool, by trade or signing, is the quick way. And many times it’s a mere change of scenery for that player. Develop takes several processes and as you noted, time.

Re: Chaim Bloom breakdown: What will it take to help him become successful. Is he now the most important figure in the o
-With Mo's departure Bloom has (the second most) control behind BDWJr
-He also has plenty of time w/a five year contract
-But money from Dewitt will NOT be coming until we have some clarification on the new CBA
-Sadly (IMO) Dewitt will force Oli on him for 2026 knowing it's another "throwaway season".
Bloom's minor league player development system has now been in place since he began instituting it in 2024.
The drafts already are showing his influence (re: power pitching).
This Winter he'll start culling the dead-wood that this team has been carrying, DFAing the players who are J.A.G.
He'll also look to deal the NTC players (NADO, Gray & Willy) IF THEY asked to be dealt.
Finally he's going to make trades both this winter & in 2026 using assets (Donovan and Noot) to bring back either young major league players w/control or quality prospects.
We'll likely also see minor moves dealing secondary players (Pages, Pozo, Pallante types) as well as some minor leaguers for "lotto" ticket prospects.
He may want a full year of control evaluating Gorman & Walker before moving on from them since they're not making big money.
BIG JOB ahead of him, I wish him the best of luck fixing this mess BDWJr/Mo have handed him.

he has to have complete autonomy
he has to break from the past without influence from the ticket office, marketing, or P R department
he has to be given a budget from the owner and the freedom to spend it at his discretion
this organization has never embraced these philosophies .....I remain skeptical they will this time either

Bloom was responsible for the dump on July 31. Mozeliak publicly stated he wanted to add. Now whatever happens next year will look better than the collapse following the dump.Bully4you wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 07:36 amI am not sure about him having full control this year.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 06:31 am He has been running the show this season if you haven't figured it out. We need to see projectable progress. A continued epidemic of major injuries to top prospects could sink him. It has sunk other GMs careers, so it wouldn't be the first to suffer consequences for bad luck.Bully4you wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 07:33 amI mentioned time, because maybe he has all other attributes and that is all he will need.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑15 Sep 2025 06:24 amHow can you give time for the moment. Putting all your bets on the Farm looks genius if it pans out, but if no one becomes an All Star/ROY and all the top prospects get hurt, then it highlights the risks of counting on unproven/undurable talent.
