Safety in St. Louis
My wife and I will be traveling to St. Louis (from MA) this season for two Blues games. My concerns are about safety. Is it safe to use the Metro train to/from Lambert Field and also for the Gateway Arch? Is Uber a better alternative?
Also, is it safe to walk from the Drury Inn (at Union Station) to/from Enterprise Center, or should we take an Uber?

You will likely get different answers from different posters re: the Metrolink.bruceglazer99 wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 10:14 am My wife and I will be traveling to St. Louis (from MA) this season for two Blues games. The walk from Union Station to Enterprise is very short and on game days there will be plenty of other Blues fans out and about. I wouldn't worry about that.

Avoid the metro link at all costs. Just uber from the airport. The walk from Union Station to Enterprise is fine, just stay with the crowds.bruceglazer99 wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 10:14 am My wife and I will be traveling to St. Louis (from MA) this season for two Blues games. I'm a huge proponent of public transportation but I avoid the metrolink. It's dirty and it's not entirely safe, even on the route you describe. Just buck up and pay for the UBER.
Once you are downtown Union Station to the rink is a 3 minute walk and on game nights it's perfectly safe. I wouldn't wander around downtown post game other than walking back to your hotel. So even if you go out after to a bar, or for late food, I would 100% UBER around.
You need any food recs? To do during the day recs?

It's incredibly dangerous, as city people are just waiting there to rob and hurt people who know how dangerous it is, I wouldn't chance it. As you already suspect, your stuff will get taken and you'll be in the hospital. Don't do itbruceglazer99 wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 10:14 am My wife and I will be traveling to St. Louis (from MA) this season for two Blues games. My concerns are about safety. I am not sure what you are asking a break from. WOW! Over react much? If you are with Blues fans at night you'll be fine. From the airport to downtown in the daytime, it will be ok. There are plenty of commuters on there.seattleblue wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 10:47 amIt's incredibly dangerous, as city people are just waiting there to rob and hurt people who know how dangerous it is, I wouldn't chance it. Just my opinion: you're too high-quality of a poster to post douchey stuff like this. There's no upside for you. The guy is just asking a question. No need to mock people who hear that St. Louis is dangerous and ask a few questions about his and his wife's safety.seattleblue wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 11:04 amthe city terrifies me sir. are you sure it will be ok if I go there?Francis Park Thug wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 11:01 amWOW! I know there’s no voice inflection in written words but this is very obvious sarcasm/satire lol.Francis Park Thug wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 11:01 amWOW! Over react much? Re: Safety in St. Louis
It’s been a long time since I’ve lived there but I’ve used the metro link plenty of times when I go visit and never had a problem. After the game, the trick would be to walk one stop to the east/west of the Enterprise stop so you can get on and get a spot while avoiding the mass of people waiting at the arena stop. But if all you’re doing is going back to the Drury hotel then just walk it. You’ll be fine.
Otherwise uber is your friend. Just don’t go to north county or East St. Louis and you should be fine.

Re: Safety in St. Louis
While I totally appreciate that, it's one of my substantive buttons. I walked across the US without a weapon (or cell phone back then) through multiple urban areas when I was 23 so I think people who ask this question are a combination of afraid and maybe one other thing.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 11:08 amJust my opinion: you're too high-quality of a poster to post douchey stuff like this.
