remember our flamethrower? Red Sox just placed on IL Hicks, who watched his ERA with Boston balloon to 8.20 when he allowed four earned runs on four hits (including a Gabriel Arias homer) while recording just a single out in Wednesday’s 8-1 loss to the Guardians, Didn't last long as starter for Giants

Strawman.

The debate always came back to the Cardinals hijacking his development as a starting pitcher when they rushed him to the big league bullpen. He never had a chance to develop into a quality starting pitcher.

Bummer. I wish the young man well. Hicks always struck me as a "thrower", who couldn't outsmart hitters, and didn't change speeds and locations with great command. Physical ability only goes so far. At some point, these young pitchers have to learn how to become unpredictable, with great command. Its a hard job. Only a few do it really well at the MLB level.

Didn't give him time to develop. ::crazya::

He's a one trick pony, never had the secondary pitches needed to be a starter.

You don’t develop secondary pitches in the bullpen you rely on your best pitches. You develop your secondary pitches by starting in the minors and working on them he was rushed to the majors and thrown in the bullpen for four years so he was never able to develop those pitches

You do realize he wasn't drafted as a reliever and that he was a starter who made 31 minor league starts over two minor league seasons (not rushed), right?

He didn't have the necessary secondary pitches to be successful in MLB and thus was converted (like many) into a RP.

He never had the secondary pitch quality to become a good major league starter, proven out by his terrible career 4.91 ERA when starting.

One trick pony, not a major league caliber starter.

Adam Wainwright and his 135 - ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FIVE - minor league starts before his big league debut?
- 67 starts in Rookie + A Ball
- 27 starts in AA
- 41 starts in AAA

And you are suggesting that he was RUSHED to the big league bullpen? You're comparing him to Jordan Hicks who made 31 minor league starts?
- 31 starts in Rookie + A Ball
- 0 (ZERO) starts at any other level

Think before you speak next time.
