Training Camp Month : What are you MOST Excited About?

We are getting closer. My question is simple, and I will lead it off. I am most excited about finding who is going to fill out that 3rd line/4th line and what direction the team wants to play in response to that. I don't really have "favorites" at this point in my life when watching sports. I do gravitate towards a certain style of play but I seem to like all aspects. I usually get a little plus if the player seems to genuinely care for the fan experience and looks to interact during post game 3 star interviews and stuff like that. Things that are off the cuff, not necessarily planned community events.

That brings me to I'm looking forward to seeing if Joseph can turn the page and become what Ottawa fans saw of him. I'm also looking forward to what Pius/Schenn 2-3 line can bring out of guys like Neighbours and a possible Dvorsky. Is that center depth enough to give us talent across the board. My hope for a 4th line was that we might get into a space where we decide to go ULTRA big, and run Joseph/Bjuk/Torpedo. Let Bjuk and his goal scoring prowess be picked up by the speed of Joseph and Torpedo. I can also get on board with Sunny manning that lineup and then bouncing Bjuk out to the wing on the 3rd line with Neighbours and Pius/Schenn.

I would get excited if we can figure out how to like 50gp play Sunny and Walker and save that grit and effort for the playoffs.

The return of live NHL hockey, camp reports, games.

Main things I'll keep an eye open for in camp:
1. Health, particularly Holloway and Tucker
2. Snuggerud, can he bring it in the top-6?
3. Pius Suter, what does he bring?
4. Mailloux, what does he bring?
5. Dvorsky, does he make a push?

The future of this team hasn’t looked this bright in a long time.
1. The prospect team is full of Blues prospects other than 3 players. Not sure when that was last the case if ever.
2. Thomas, Parayko, Binner I think continue to build on how they played last year
3. I think Kyrou will have a career year
4. The Blues have a great culture developing with players like Jake, Snuggy, Holloway,
5. Broberg is just 24 and can’t wait to see how he looks this year
6. Mailloux is an exciting addition. If he turns into a top 4 D then the retool is well on its way of revamping the D.
7. Several prospects will be playing in the AHL this year
8. The blues got deeper at center but didn’t give out any crippling contracts term or avg
9. Dvorsky and Dean may come in and make some noise this year
10. Last but not least is I’m expecting this team to make the playoffs this year and there are no teams picking the Blues as an easy matchup

Snuggerud was given the top line roll. He didn't earn it, which concerns ms. However, the scouts and coaching must think that he is exceptional. I'm cautiously optimistic about him, but if he starts getting goals/assists consistently, it's going to be very exciting.

I like Fowler, and I'm very happy to see him on the roster for the full year.

I really hope that Dvorsky gets a roster spot, somewhere. To see him contributing like Bolduc last year would be very exciting. He's got some size to him, and I'd like to see him be a presence out there.

Dvorsky is a little bashful; you won't see him hit opponents into the players bench, run guys into the boards or shoulder opponents off the puck with authority like Bolduc did in his first season.

How long before we find out that the Winger deemed expendable in trade (Bolduc) by Army was irreplaceable? I'm guessing before the snow flies.'

Regarding Dvorsky, I hope that he is closer to Bolduc on the Aggressive Continuum than Kyrou.

Not sure I can cite anything I'm not excited about.

Guys with down years last year coming back strong. Guys with strong years last year progressing and improving, including Dylan and Bro.

For the young players and their camp....

I am most intrigued about Mailloux, flat out. Dying to see where this one is going and my money is on DA.

DD.......is he going to make opening night roster? Just a huge time for him.

Carbonneau........how far away is this kid? No way right now, right?

Snuggs......those important post season games and will they pay off from the starting gate this year?

It's always a great time to be a Blues fan but this year has a special buzz to it for me.

My eyes will be on Mailloux, DD, Dean and Carbonneau. I think Snuggs will take another step up. Should be one hell of a ride this year. Buckle up, enjoy the ride.

I also really like the prospect tournament every year. Was surprised to see Dean in it again, as he's getting up there in age and looked a tier above most everyone else last year. But golly, we've got the host of WJC players plus some other good ones joining them. Really looking forward to seeing them all on the ice together next week!

I'm stoked about our batch of prospects. It would be great to have someone come out of nowhere and put up big numbers as a rookie (like Albert Pujols when he arrived to the Cardinals) Not just a prospect that makes the team, but a rookie that blows us away

I'm excited. This team should be able to compete with most of the teams in the league. They have some speed, some skill and some size. It's coming together. A full season with Monty should help too. Holloway and Broberg are on contract years so I expect a lot out of both of them. Brobergs the 1st pairing LD by seasons end. Holloway will cement his top 6 status and push Buch to be better. Mailloux will be trying to make the most out of his opportunity to play. Snuggy should be more comfortable and dangerous. Neighbours should be hitting his stride. I think he could have a big year no matter what line he plays on. This could be a good season.....LGB!

I'm with you. And I'm almost as excited about the AHL Thunderbirds.

My eyes are really on the next year, but this season should be a good precursor.
