May be the next year Cards are relevant. Need to move on from at least 90% of the 40 man roster in the next few years. Going to be some bleak years with payroll in the Tampa, Pittsburgh range.

May be the next year Cards are relevant. Need to move on from at least 90% of the 40 man roster in the next few years. Going to be some bleak years with payroll in the Tampa, Pittsburgh range.

I’m thinking 2028 they have a competitive roster and play for division. For some reason I’m not worried about payroll. Ownership will step up.

Two things impact my prediction negatively:

1. 2027 labor dispute

2. Is Bloom a slow mover? Is he committed to internal rebuild or does he supplement with free agency or big trades. If he moves slow you are correct.

If Bloom is as good as his rep this team should be competitive by 2027. There's a lot of work to be done but this team has many fungible pieces that he can mix and match with acquisitions however works best.

WS wins are worse. Last time 2011. Record 18 years. We will set new franchise record in four years without a WS win. Will we do it.

Bloom needs to work his plan. See what we have in minors, i know much. Look at trades or free agents.
Nothing may happen in trades or free agent until new agreement

We need at least 3 starters
We have Liberatore and McGreevy long term. Maybe Mathews
The others stay hurt

If 1 year deal pitchers have your panties in a bunch, I would much rather Bloom do that than to sign 3 Mike Leake contracts.

I totally agree.

But that speaks towards the prospects and not who he signed for 2024.

Let’s not forget the team still needed a pitcher (Fedde) at the deadline.
