Reds sold out last night, despite being virtually tied with the Cardinals

Post by Carp4Cy »

I was surprised to see a full GABP on TV, a sea of Red, just not Cardinals Red. And at times the fans got loud, even excited.

Yet they aren’t winning at a greater rate than we are. There must be something else making a difference?

Let’s see. Do reds have insulting ownership and management, and are they trying to win? Add on avg ticket price in stl is $15 more…

It could be one fanbase see their rebuild bare some fruit while the other team's fanbase don't know what to make of their team supposed runway season while expecting better results from management and players.

Yeah, I'd rather go back to trying to win like in 2022 even if we aren't successful at winning it all. Cincy hasn't won an NL Central since 2012. They haven't won a pennant since forever. They won't win it this year either. Yet, they still have a fanbase with some excitement.

Its not just lower expectations though. Pittsburg is a perinnial loser with fans who expect to lose but they DON'T sell out like Cincy.

The difference was most of the tix were pre purchased by Red fans when they were nearly tied for the 3rd wildcard spot and Labor Day weekend was approaching . The team has lost 5 games in a row and have lost ground on the wildcard run. They had a winning streak a couple weeks back that spurred sales and now losing streak.

The GABP was not sold out last night. The paid attendance was only 32,076 while the capacity is 43,500.

I heard St. Louis attendance is down due to old people will combust in the heat and people want to watch soccer matches.

Sure looked a lot more full and lound than any recent game at Busch I've watched on TV. They didn't have the corner OF sections completely blocked off either.

Reds have been irrelevant for a long time. Cards have had 3 poor years and a spoiled fan base that is actually doing the correct thing by not showing up. You should be happy

and how's that working out? So far they are trending young and cheap, and tracking more closely to the Marlins/Pirates than to the Cubs or Astros or Padres. Waiting for some daylight at the end of the tunnel, not just fake promises of flourescent electric lights.
