About the starters….

Post by ecleme22 »

I researched from 1970 to now.

I don’t think, in that time, we had 4 starters with 10+ losses. I know, in that time, we never had 4 starters with 10+ losses and all with a losing record.

Coupled with bad offense, how is this team only 2 games under .500?

That bullpen has been good…

Bump.

How is this team 68-69?

I really think they have a good foundation that, once added to, can be competitive.

I’d agree if the team is willing to spend. It is critical they’ve hit on Wetherholt, Doyle, and probably Mathews too.

Add a front end starting pitcher and a legitimate RHH outfielder and they might be able to turn things around. Continued development of Winn and at least one of Gorman and Walker could tip the scale.

The rotation needs the overhaul and we’d have a great bench if half our lineup were there as role players where they are best suited.

A lot of ifs, but not impossible if they are willing to pay some in free agency to help make up for some of the ineptitude in drafting and development.

This season was never meant to spend, and they’re still around .500

I get that. And have been in agreement with the strategy after they slipped back to their old ways after the strong start. But as far as next year goes…I think it’s time to spend a little and invest in the team. The fans will come back to see a winner. They always have in STL.
