And 2 remain in the rotation and 1 stayed in far too long to the point where even Oli subtly spoke against it
Just one more month of the Mo-(bleep), cannot come soon enough

Who were you going to replace those pitcher with? The guys at AAA were hurt. The current group was designed to struggle through this year and give the new bull pens guys and the guys at AAA a chance to develop. Like it or not there was nothing to be done.
Re: Amazing stats prove 3 pitchers are the problem
Well, looking back, Fedde should have been traded in the off season, and McGreevy could have had an earlier arrival to the SP rotation. If they had done that and signed someone like Quintana, they might be in a much better position right now.
Looking currently and forward, McGreevy has replaced Fedde, and hopefully Mathews is ready to make a good showing in spring training. The Cards also need to trade for or sign a decent SP guy. Have that happen and IF Doyle develops well in milb next year, maybe, just maybe things look a lot more promising a year from now.

Great synopsis of the Cards 2025. The rest of this roster is just not good enough to make up for the poor showing by MM, EF and AP. Better luck next year.

How about from. AA Springfield ? For just September? Other clubs will do it when necessary.

And to think that at the very least, Mikolas and Fedde could have for sure been shopped last winter. Fedde would have actually brought something in return.

During the 2023-2024 offseason your idol mozeliak had to sign 3 starters to give”the guys at AAA a chance to develop”.
Close to 2 full years later it’s the same crud.
“nothing to be done” only because Mozeliak has been lazy and stupid.

Re: Amazing stats prove 3 pitchers are the problem
Isn't that just a (bleep)-poor reflection of our pitching. When is the last time the Cardinals have had a pitching staff that wasn't catastrophically thin. They made it through 2019 somehow needing to call on 7 pitchers to make starts during the season. Pretty lucky. You got through 2021 with a pretty significant amount of starts going to Carlos Martinez (6.23 ERA for 16 starts) and John Gant (a 1:1 walk to strikeout ratio for 14 starts). 2022 was the real crime because if it weren't for all the innings that went to Mozeliak's failed bullpen acquisitions (Drew VerHagen, Aaron Brooks, and Nick Shitgren) early on, I felt that team should have been 15-20 games above 0.500 already by the end of June. And, we all know it was the offense that let us down in the Philly playoff series. But don't fool yourself. Did anyone think we were going to ride Quintana and Mikolas to a WS, against the top SPs we would have had to face (Scherzer, DeGrom, Strider, Wheeler, Nola, Darvish, Musgrove, Snell, Valdez/Verlander, Castillo/Gilbert, Gausman/Manoah, etc). What a shame because otherwise those were some good teams, 2022 maybe even appearing to be a destiny team.

This is a very defining and telling statistic about the Cardinals. I was done with Mikolaz three years ago. Most of us felt like the Cardinals needed to upgrade pitching more than we did when they only signed Sonny Gray. The Dewitts took the fans for granted.
Re: Amazing stats prove 3 pitchers are the problem
Stats like that are fun but ultimately meaningless and chance.
You could take away the worst 3 pitchers winning oercentage of any other team and get similar results.
Im not saying those 3 arent bad but for several months both pallante and fedde were pitching to a sub 4.00 era and the team still was losing.
Im not saying avg pitchers would make us better but replacing them with 3 average starters wouldnt suddenly make us have best winning oercentage in baseball. Mcgreevy and gray have had some luck of the team happenning to score in their starts.
This is still a subpar lineup

What do you expect? The Cardinals haven’t had a real pitching coach since Dave Duncan. And no, I am not forgetting Mike Maddux.

Fedde - traded in the offseason.
Starting Rotation then would have been:
Gray
Mikolas
Pallante
Liberatore
McGreevy
Matz could have replaced a struggling Mikolas. May have been in a spot to add at the deadline and could have gotten reinforcements for a struggling Pallante/Mikolas.
