Springfield Gives Hope For The Future

Post by Red7 »

They’re streaking to taking both halves of the Texas League season and look to make a run in the playoffs. While most of you want Wetherholt brought up for no real reason, I want him sent down to Springfield for the playoffs. Being involved in a professional playoff would be good experience. It would also be good for the organization to win a minor league title, especially at the AA level.

Oh my. How far the Cardinals have fallen when we want the top prospect to go down a minor league level to try to win a AA title and get playoff experience.

He won a league title last year with Palm Beach.

I think he'll survive not going to the playoffs this year.

Good practice for the MLB team which has missed the playoffs in 6 of the past 10 years... assuming no miracle finish in 2025.

It’s not a matter of survival. It’s a matter of building a winning culture among the organization’s young players. A lot of those players who won at Palm Beach are winning again this season at Springfield. What’s wrong with keeping that momentum going? Leave him at Memphis until their season is over then extend his season with Springfield.

You’re not one of those posters who only see doom and gloom. The guys at Springfield are the team’s future, not the guys on this year’s MLB team. Don’t forget, it was the Memphis Mafia helped propel the 2011-15 teams.

No. It's just some (bleep) on CT wanting that...

Ya the Springfield staff deserves tons of praise. Seems like every call up sees an immediate boost. Mediocre Peoria performances turn to good AA. Levenson, winquest, rincon etc etc.

Very seldom agree with RED7 but am on board here unless Memphis is in postseason. i think it's good exposure. Moreover, simple continuation of what he started earlier in the year.

I wouldn't tell him he had to go; I would proffer it to him.

Totally agree that Springfield is grounds for hope on the farm. That team has been far and away better than others in the league; despite players passing thru.

Does this mean we can all start hoping for a good team in 2027 or is it 2028?

Hope is the backbone of this franchise. We have been hoping for good teams for the past 10 years. The 10 years before that we worked for, and expected good teams.

Yeah, but then Tony left, and Mozeliak started to run things, and...we all know how that turned out. :x

How can you not like what has gone in Springfield this year? I think the management group coming in will develop this type of depth throughout the system AND improve the major league roster. I honestly haven't been this optimistic about the Cardinals future since 2011 when they went to the World Series and had the #1 ranked farm system. So, yes, I'm hopeful too.

When you've got a bad team that's been trending down for a decade, any change is better than staying where you're at.

Reputedly said by Einstein: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

If Bloom and his new team doesn't work, get someone else.
