Wetherholt needs some MLB experience this season
To help prepare him for 2026. Something like the invaluable experience Saggese is now getting. And it probably wouldn't hurt to do the same for Church. It would also help Bloom decide on Nootbaar's future with the Cardinals..

Settle down. Check out the Saggese and Church references. Yorkie, please try to be more tolerant of other posters. We all aren't perfect like you.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑17 Aug 2025 09:31 amNo, he doesn’t.

The thread is about calling up Wetherholt, you threw in the other names as cover later on with your usual endless edits.Shady wrote: ↑17 Aug 2025 09:34 amSettle down. Is there an echo in here?
Ok.....for those that need to revisit certain topics every other day:
*JJ is ready to get a look in September!
*But....this is less about JJ and more about finalizing plans on who to move and who to keep.
*And for the “haven’t we learned enough about these guys already” crowd???? Exactly WHAT do you expect to GET for a Nootbaar, Gorman, etc in the offseason if you sit their (bleep) all September and then offer them in trade???????

I don't want him to experience anything about this current team and leadership. End the season, can Oli, get a new coaching staff and let him start from there next spring training
Re: Wetherholt needs some MLB experience this season
That makes some sense.ForumPolice wrote: ↑17 Aug 2025 09:44 am I don't want him to experience anything about this current team and leadership. End the season, can Oli, get a new coaching staff and let him start from there next spring training

Re: Wetherholt needs some MLB experience this season
Why not give him an audition in September? It should not start the clock on free agency and control.
Re: Wetherholt needs some MLB experience this season
They have a log jam, especially of pitchers on the IL. these pitchers have talent, but have been injured. If you remove them from the 40 man roster, you lose them this winter. Several people will be traded this winter and you'll see JJ soon enough.
Re: Wetherholt needs some MLB experience this season
By the looks of some of Walker's and Saggese's swings, there is something to be gained from experiencing MLB pitching, first hand. That's an example of what Wetherholt and Church could gain from getting some MLB ABs this season in preparation for '26.
Re: Wetherholt needs some MLB experience this season
It’s not needed.
Calm down.

Next year’s team (and certainly the coaching staff!) could/should very different in 2026.
Give JJ a fresh look in ST.
I’m sure they’ve spoken to him about their plans and I don’t think he’s going to turn into a pumpkin in September at Memphis!

Re: Wetherholt needs some MLB experience this season
LMAO... +1000!
The “supposed” reason to promote JJ/Church/etc crowd> CRITICAL experience for them!
The “real” reason crowd> I’m BORED and need something to fixate on in September!
Nothing to do with what is BEST for those players.
Hey I’ll be tuning in in September with my main interest on the young guys. Whoever that may be?
If I get BORED?> watch FOOTBALL! LOL
