A L I E N : E A R T H

Post by DJ Davis »

On FX or Hulu. First two episodes out this week. Anyone else checking it out?

This is excellent so far. They nailed the set and art design. Feels like the original Alien film but with better resolution. Cinema quality visuals.

Timothy Olyphant is playing one of the androids and definitely pulls off the creepy vibe.

Yea, really enjoyed the first two episodes.

I guess this probably isn't a spoiler, but I like it when the alien [censored] up a bunch of people in like 5 seconds and they're all cut in half, missing limbs, ect. Don't know why it decides at some points to hop on people and just snarl instead of [fork] them up immediately, which allows the person to sometimes escape, but it's a show. I get it.

Loved the foppish party scene too.
Spoiler
I guess I'm going to get pedantic, but the series is like two years before the first alien movie. It seems like in this world they already have this weapon that easily subdues and then allows the alien to be captured, however, this is like obviously nowhere to be found in any of the other movies. Maybe they'll address it later, but just seems a bit weird.
As long as the Zuckerberg guy gets brutally killed by the alien, I'm happy.

Agree with your spoiler point.

And, it seemed like in the first movie, none of them knew what the aliens were. Now, maybe the evil corporate overlords kept them in the dark, but if one of the xenomorphs was running around earth two years prior, that makes it a little harder to believe. But, it hasn’t gotten out of the building yet, and maybe they will explain all that too.

Also, it was cool to see the other specimens. That tentacle-eyeball thing was disgusting, especially when it got into the cat’s head.
Oh, and Tool’s Stinkfist playing at the end of episode 2 was superb.

And Mob Rules by Black Sabbath the first episode. End every episode with a metal song and I'll be happy. Aliens killing people and heavy metal...... great match.

Ha, thanks boomer. But seriously, check out the show, it’s good.

The only Rollins song worth playing would be Liar and I don’t see how they’d fit that in. Maybe with the tech bro.

The trailer blurbs made it look really good. Then I found out that they were just completely twisting the quotes so I lost interest:
In the trailer for Alien: Earth, they quote The Wrap calling the show “a world-altering breakthrough.” This seemed excessive even by film publication standards, so I looked this up. The phrase appears in a description of the plot, in reference to a scientific breakthrough
