Is McGreevy the future ace?
Or maybe Doyle, Mathews, etc. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/ca ... 2c771&ei=9
McGreevy should have been in the rotation a couple months ago. Maybe the Cardinals record would be a lot different.

Ceiling is 3 or 4 he doesn’t have strikeout or overpowering stuff
He relies on movement, change of speeds, matriculating ball around quadrants of zone
Slave to BABIP, ERA from 3.75 to 4.75 dependent on luck and fielders

I thought Roby was supposed to be the future ace. Ditching him after a TJ surgery isn't nice.Shady wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 13:31 pm Or maybe Doyle, Mathews, etc. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/ca ... 2c771&ei=9

McG upside is a solid #3
Re: Is McGreevy the future ace?
No need to try to blend in. There's legendary obsession going on here. Just remember who was the ONLY one on some message boards that saw Burleson as a really good future MLB hitter on the way. And the best is yet to come. LOL

McG was a Classic low risk low reward draft pick. High floor, low ceiling, ok stuff, plus command. These guys are almost never all stars.Baseball Savant wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 13:36 pm Ceiling is 3 or 4 he doesn’t have strikeout or overpowering stuff

Not an ace.

Re: Is McGreevy the future ace?
Actually, you weren’t the only one who saw some upside to his game, and I have defended his defense, especially at 1st base, BUT, let’s NOT act like he’s turned into some kind of All-Star or High caliber player. He should not be batting in the #2,3, or 4 hole on a WS contending team. He’s a .280+ hitter who should hit 20-25 home runs, with 80+ RBI’s. Let’s be clear though, he hasn’t done that, Yet!

Bumbles career:
1414 PA
45 HR
171 RBI
.264 .315 .416 .731
103 OPS+
vs RHP
.271 .327 .438 .765
Vs LHP
.231 .264 .327 .591
+2 career DRS at 1B
-19 career DRS in the OF
He's no more than a platoon player at best, even then he's nothing special vs RHP.
I hope C. Bloom packages him w/???? when he seeks to find a starting pitcher for the 2026 roster.
