How is it these 4 can make it to the highest of levels in baseball but can't field worth a [shirt]
I mean their efforts even stink.
I wouldn't give a plug nickel for any of these jags.
You have....
1. Gorman
2. Herrera
3. Burleson
4. Walker
I mean that's a lot of players that can't play any justifiable form of defense.
Now we have to watch friggin Herrera in LF.
That's gonna be a disaster too.
Burly can at least hit, but defensively what happened.
How did any of them advance through the minors being this (bleep) poor?

The Mo school of developing talent lacks a lot of clarity. Hopefully that is being corrected in the future.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 08:50 amnow list the positions they played thru the minors and the ones they're playing nowBully4you wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 08:39 am I mean their efforts even stink.

Mo has promoted and moved minor leaguers not based on the best development path for the players, but instead for his desperate need to fill the MLB roster without having to make a trade or sign a FA. The guy is just in over his head as POBO. He looks at his job like he’s a fireman putting out fires, instead of being like an artist painting a masterpiece.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 08:53 amThe Mo school of developing talent lacks a lot of clarity. It has been whack a mole since OT died.... Then when Nado and Goldy basically fell into their lap (the Jocketty model of operation), they didn't bother to make a few more moves to fill out the team and wasted the opportunity. Not all on MO though. Ownership was asleep at the switch.BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 09:05 amMo has promoted and moved minor leaguers not based on the best development path for the players, but instead for his desperate need to fill the MLB roster without having to make a trade or sign a FA. So true. BDW seems to actively engage his ownership role only intermittently. We can only assume that he has some age-related capacity depletion and cognitive decline. I wonder when he will pass the reins to Trey…..bccardsfan wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 09:10 amIt has been whack a mole since OT died.... Everytime I hear Moe talking and I think about things like he currently has 4 catchers on the 26 man, I am reminded about the scene in Moneyball where Ron Washington and Billy Beane are at Hatteberg’s house and Beane is telling him how easy it is to play first base. Beane turns to Wash and says ”tell him how easy it is” and Wash says ”it’s incredibly difficult”. Moe is Billy Beane. Just a bull pooper from his very core who will tell anyone anything. Just a very opaque con man who is neither good at his job nor good at being a con man. I can’t wait for him to go on his last float trip.

Now ask why any of those guys should be protected as the future core of the team.Bully4you wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 08:39 am I mean their efforts even stink.

You can hide 1 in LF/DH and 1 at 1B/DH The others should go. Sorry JW. If there was a deal for a decent SP on the table for any of them, do it.

4 catchers on the major league team and 3 of their best prospects are catchers.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 13:21 pm Everytime I hear Moe talking and I think about things like he currently has 4 catchers on the 26 man, I am reminded about the scene in Moneyball where Ron Washington and Billy Beane are at Hatteberg’s house and Beane is telling him how easy it is to play first base. Gee, I wonder what should they be trading in the off season?
PS. That's the best scene of the movie. Followed up by "picking machine!"

As I posted many times, Mo is horrible at taking resources the cardinals have, and converting some to resources they actually need.

When BDW3 takes over will it be better, worse or the same?BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 11:45 amSo true. BDW seems to actively engage his ownership role only intermittently. Too soon to tell. Trey has the earmarks of a pure blue blood, and I don’t mean that in a positive way. I do hold out hope that there will be enough smart people around to hire the right PR and marketing folks to manage the message that Trey delivers. His dad has been fairly tone deaf the last few years with the public.rightthinker4 wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 14:13 pmWhen BDW3 takes over will it be better, worse or the same?BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 11:45 amSo true. Hopefully he sells to someone who is hungry to win like Dewitt was when he first bought the team instead of not caring and just wanting to milk it for ounce of profit they can and not caring anymore about winningrightthinker4 wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 14:13 pmWhen BDW3 takes over will it be better, worse or the same?BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 11:45 amSo true.
