Or going to soccer matches instead!desertrat23 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 14:25 pmYou forgot that you have a 100% chance of being murdered if you go downtown.
Maybe Cards fans are tired of ownership just trying to squeak into the playoffs year after year without any real hope of advancing? Maybe baseball fans in general are simply less impressed with playoff appearances these days since they've started letting in half the league?Sure, the Cardinals were sellers in front of the trade deadline, they are only three games out of a playoff spot right now. Three games! That's totally workable.
While that isn't true, a lot of the baseball fan demographic in St. Louis are older white guys who believe that and perception is reality.desertrat23 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 14:25 pmYou forgot that you have a 100% chance of being murdered if you go downtown.
Yep. An age cohort that is doing more damage to the franchise than they realize.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 14:30 pmWhile that isn't true, a lot of the baseball fan demographic in St. Louis are older white guys who believe that and perception is reality.desertrat23 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 14:25 pmYou forgot that you have a 100% chance of being murdered if you go downtown.

Cutting payroll was the last straw. It is now clear to some holdout fans that the owner cares more for profit than fielding a team fans want to watch. Getting fans back will be harder than loosing them. It will take another WS to get back to 3.5m. Even prior to cutting spending there were no young fans. 80% of the Cardinals fans are over 50.Imperial Capitalist wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:03 pmExcellent point.3dender wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 14:29 pm Guy gets paid to write juvenile [nonsense] like that?

And, ownership wanted to have 14 teams in during the last CBA negotiation process before relenting. When the game expands by two more teams, you'll see the 14 and, likely, a push on their part to have 16 teams.
And that should be considered a five-alarm fire.Youboughtit wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:13 pm

The reality is when it comes to gun related crimes st. Louis was ranked first. So for some it may be a concern and being criticized for it is juvenile at best.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 14:30 pmWhile that isn't true, a lot of the baseball fan demographic in St. Louis are older white guys who believe that and perception is reality.desertrat23 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 14:25 pmYou forgot that you have a 100% chance of being murdered if you go downtown.
Yup, especially that bolded part. Ridiculous for media to essentially scold fans for not resuming support quickly enough.Youboughtit wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:13 pmCutting payroll was the last straw.
