Re: Wetherholt leads off game….!!!
Hopefully in September, but only if he plays regularly
Re: Wetherholt leads off game….!!!
Did you notice the ball was hit a bit to left center.
He had power to go ‘oppo’ for HR’s. Not a strictly pull hitter to get his HR’s . The kid can hit a baseball hard to all fields .
Look forward to him playing vs. Reds a Great American Ballpark at end of month as thst id s very good hitters park.
Go Cards!
Go JJ !

Charles,
Think you will be pleasantly surprised when JJ is called up in August..
Mon. Aug.25. Two weeks from yesterday may be the date…
For the pirate Series
Two years ago, Winn was called up prior to that.
So expect JJ in about two weeks .

Re: Wetherholt leads off game….!!!
I've read a couple of things lately from the local media that seems to me like they're hearing from the team that they're not calling him up this year. Lynn Worthy wrote a column just straight up arguing against calling him up. I believe Goold has reported that the team is hesitant to do so because of the already tough problem of finding playing time for everyone.
I mean, I do get it. Wetherholt isn't the only one who would need playing time these last few weeks. You've got Gorman, Donovan, Herrera, Burleson, and Walker, all in need of playing time. Am I missing anyone? And this is with Arenado out. If he comes back that's only getting tougher to find ABs.
But then again, look at what this guy is doing at AAA, after basically mastering AA. I know he hasn't been there long, but it doesn't look like it's going to be a problem. He's their top prospect. He's one of the top prospects in baseball. He's probably going to be a huge part of your team next year. Isn't it going to pay off to give the guy a taste of MLB?
I don't know. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Just the vibe I'm getting from some things I've read.

I've been getting the same vibe. Almost seems like they're trying to manufacture an explanation for not doing the common sense thing that literally everyone wants to see happen. Would be very Cardinals-like to fumble the move though.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 20:34 pm I've read a couple of things lately from the local media that seems to me like they're hearing from the team that they're not calling him up this year. Whenever that date passes (8/15?) that keeps his rookie status for 2026, he needs to be up here and in the lineup the next day.

I’m not a PD subscriber, will have to see if Woo reports anything.

Based on MO’s comments today on 101 ESPN. I wouldn’t expect a JJ Wetherholt or Quinn Mathews call-up in September as Mo said it doesn’t seem to be in the best interest of the club given the amount of 40-man players they may want to add this winter.

No mention of Church... dumb reasoning if that's accurate.

In MLB, a player loses their rookie status if they exceed 130 at-bats, 50 innings pitched, or 45 days on the active roster in any previous MLB season according to MLB.com.rockondlouie wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 08:55 am Whenever that date passes (8/15?) that keeps his rookie status for 2026, he needs to be up here and in the lineup the next day.
Winn was called up on 8/18/23 and finished the season with 122 ABs. I would think Wetherholt watch might begin as early as this coming Monday, 8/18 against the Marlins. Get his feet wet with his new teammates on the FL road trip before coming back to St Louis for the 4 game set against Pittsburgh.
