Saggese looks solid at 3B and 2B defensively
And he's adequate at SS. He's still only 23. His bat will likely come around. He's fitting in nicely with the reset. At least as a utiilty-type player.

You did this same thread topic just two weeks ago: viewtopic.php?t=1514943

Pay attention. This is more inclusive with the reset in mind. Saggese could be a nice piece to the project.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑11 Aug 2025 10:10 am You did this same thread topic just two weeks ago: viewtopic.php?t=1514943

Re: Saggese looks solid at 3B and 2B defensively
Why, because you threw in a passing reference to 2B in the thread title? A position where, incidentally, Saggese has a -1 DRS, -2 OAA, and -2 FRV in a whopping 201.1 innings.Shady wrote: ↑11 Aug 2025 10:12 amPay attention. So, you are skeptical of Saggese being part of the reset. Is that your point?NYCardsFan wrote: ↑11 Aug 2025 10:18 amWhy, because you threw in a passing reference to 2B in the thread title? Re: Saggese looks solid at 3B and 2B defensively
I think there are two things impacting his future as a Cardinal. One, the Arenado problem. If he stays he probably ( although he shouldn’t) occupies third. Two, if Gorman can end the season strong with bat and improve defense he is probably an option at third before Saggese.
With JJ coming up. Arenado blocking his path and if there is an improved Gorman I don’t see him sticking. Probably traded.
Re: Saggese looks solid at 3B and 2B defensively
I could see a Gorman/Sagese platoon at 3B. Wish Saggese could also help out in the outfield.Jatalk wrote: ↑11 Aug 2025 10:21 amI think there are two things impacting his future as a Cardinal. He looks over matched at the plate

5 edits and you still thought it was a good idea to talk about “with the reset in mind” when the “reset” has been known about since the offseason, not just the trade deadline.Shady wrote: ↑11 Aug 2025 10:12 amPay attention. Re: Saggese looks solid at 3B and 2B defensively
Too many Saggese's on this team (too many players who sort of play several positions but none that well) Saggese is an add in on a bigger trade
Re: Saggese looks solid at 3B and 2B defensively
Saggese has hit very well, overall, in the minors. Much like Burleson did. Let's hope Saggese progresses as an MLB hitter like Burleson has. Could happen.

"Solid"?
He's never going to be the starting 2nd baseman, never going to be the starting 3rd baseman either.
His "upside" is back of the bench SUP.
Right now he's JAG w/a career: .230 .273 .327 .600 slash.
