I find it kinda refreshing

Post by Cardsfan1586 »

Though it sucks we are going to suck for a while, at least there is some semblance of a direction. For the past X number of years, we have been stuck right in the middle. Once Bloom takes over and puts together a better dugout, at least I'll feel like we are building rather than flailing around at.500. That is all, happy Monday!

Hope you are right. We don’t really know his abilities and or backing from the real decision makers. The owners are going to have to shelve out some money or this team is going to be stuck with minor league talent, at least for a few years. And there current situation is a complete disaster, and the owners allowed this to happen. My confidence level is pretty low.

Wait til you see what BDW has planned for spending up to the new CBA... and the lockout he's planning in order to get a salary cap.

There’s no guarantee Bloom is going to be any more successful than MO. Hope he is. Hope he’s more decisive and quicker to pull the trigger on trades and other moves. The issue for the Cards is that the talent in the minors is a bit thin because of bad trades in the past. Same with the majors. Major players have come to the Big Leagues too soon and not produced. And mediocre pitchers were given long-term deals with no-trade contracts and those players have stunk. We need to clear out the deadwood and stop treating average players like they were Cy Young or Babe Ruth. But I must say I’m really excited for Bloom to take over and to start talking about MO in the past tense.

The problem with if bloom can be more successful than Mo is Dewitt is penny pinching in his old days the budget is reduced and I don’t see them boosting it back up to what Mo had

Despite whatever constraints are place upon him, or what other shortcomings he may have, Bloom is a MUCH better talent evaluator than we have been dealing with.

Did Mozeliak really ever evaluate talent? Seems like he usually just signed whoever was the easiest, low-effort move. And his managerial hires were just whoever would follow his orders.
