special team emphasis

Post by hdhntr148 »

I like how they are at least talking about putting better players on special teams and improving performance because there hasn't been any excitement out of them for many years. On punts having someone who can really make things happen would be nice. They did have someone who was incredible in HS for last 3 years but he didn't really show much at all.

Now you have a couple of guys who were incredible in Shaun Terry and Coleman plus a couple of others who were outstanding HS. Hopefully with better blockers in front of them they can do more damage.

Kick returns have been nothing special as well so hopefully they can generate better field position and the occasional great run.

of course it's fall camp talk, so we shall see if anything changes.

Our punt return IQ last season was about the same as our punt return average of 4.62 yards good for last in the SEC.

Our returners didn't know most of the time when to come and catch a punt or when to return one often times the ball then bouncing towards our own goal line.

Its a big part of the game if done efficiently. It can change field position and momentum.
