Glad the team traded the expiring contracts.

Agreed.

The additional positive spin I'll also put on it: JoJo shows himself to be a capable closer and increases his value going into the trade deadline next year.

I think the bullpen will be fine. The team needs starters!

Let’s just hope that 1 or 2 of the prospects traded for turn out to be players that will help us later on.

....or, if JoJo continues his strong closing, maybe Bloom will extend his contract after this year.

A lefty closer. It’s been awhile.

They did fine.
I predicted this very thing at the deadline.
Helsley, Maton, and Matz did a fine job this season.
I said that it was a mistake to assume that the young arms could not do as well.

I can see JJ being in mix and match closing role for this last several weeks but not for 2026.

You just seldom see a lefthanded closer.

Obviously there may be some dip in bullpen production.

But the roster is still mostly intact.

Would love to see a winning streak to make things interesting.

I would expect that vs some mostly RH batters in closing situations, a smart manager may utilize a RH closer - in the current Cardinal situation, that could be O'Brien.

Promising first run protecting a lead for sure.

Let's see how they've done a month from now though before we declare victory.

The problem is that the roster is still mostly intact though.

Me too.

You can trade off guys and still compete. Never understood why that concept is hard for some.

I wanted to see him want more but I don’t run the team so oh well lol.
