Had to have one lefty in the pen
Pen has three openings now. Who comes up. I know they want be very good. But someone has to cover three or more innings daily

Can’t get rid of everybody. Need some talent on the team.

Re: Inexcusable not to trade Romero
2025 is a lost season - no need for Romero
Re: Inexcusable not to trade Romero
I agree in principle, but after the return on relievers by Mo, it may not have been worth it.
Re: Inexcusable not to trade Romero
He's not expensive. He's not 40. Why not extend him? There's plenty of dry powder.
Re: Inexcusable not to trade Romero
I think it will get ugly, but not because we traded 4 relievers. It will be ugly because the remaining players have given up on Oli and we didn't bring back any new blood to motivate the core.
Twice this week we've been shutout, which has absolutely nothing to do with lacking good relievers.

Should've traded JoJo, but at least for the fanboy in me, I'm glad he's still here. I like the guy.
The bigger whiff, I think, is not even listening on Nootbaar. He's one of the most redundant pieces we have.

Re: Inexcusable not to trade Romero
Matz and Helsley are pending FA’s and were no brainers if you weren’t going to extend them.
Romero has one more year of control and only makes $2.5M.
You need some vets in the BP.
And nothing says he can’t be moved in the offseason if the right deal comes up.
I was actually hoping they would have kept Maton who to me is also a bargain and extension eligible.

I think not!
Re: Inexcusable not to trade Romero
Romero would have been worth more since he had another year of control like bednar. He will be worth more nkwnthan he will next years deadline as a 2 month rental. And yes im predicting we will be sellers again next season rather than competing

Not a major whiff. I'm sure for the right offer he was gone. But you might have noticed pen arms didn't return a lot this year. Seems every team in sell mode had pen arms available.
And they can still trade him in December.
