The St. Louis Blues could use another winger in their top nine after trading Zack Bolduc to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Logan Mailloux earlier this off-season. Due to this, one remaining unrestricted free agent (UFA) who they should consider targeting is forward Victor Olofsson.
If the Blues signed Olofsson, he would offer them another solid option to consider for their third-line right wing spot, as the 30-year-old forward provides solid secondary scoring when playing at his best. Thus, he could be a good player for the Blues to bring in on an affordable one-year contract or even a professional tryout (PTO).
Olofsson is coming off a solid 2024-25 season, as he recorded 15 goals, 14 assists, 29 points, and a plus-17 rating in 56 games with the Vegas Golden Knights. He has also scored at least 20 goals and recorded at least 40 points three times during his career. Had he played all 82 games during the 2024-25 campaign, he would have been on pace to hit the 20-goal and 40-point marks for the fourth time in his career. Thus, there is no question that he is capable of making an impact offensively.

the sniper we need is snuggerudd and Carboneau is the power forward we lost in bolduc just more skilled. Finally Dvorsky is the pierre Turgeon type center we have needed. We dont need to add unless its from our farm system
Re: Blues Should Consider Targeting Interesting Sniper
I agree. Not all at once...one at a time right from the season opener for about 10-20 games to acclimate & watch every so often from above, then add the next. It seems like Snuggerud is a given on the opening roster. If Dvorsky earns and is able to stick, then great. If Carboneau or one of the recent year's high draft prospects also stick by season's end, then really great.Nublues69 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 07:34 amHonestly IMOTBone wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 07:30 am Blues Should Consider Targeting Interesting Sniper

It's a good thought, but we just have far too many youngsters that have to start getting put into the lineup and we just don't have the room for another vet.

This is a complete failure. It's almost as if it were designed in a lab in its complete idiocy

Exactly. We have so many wing options. It's the last place we need to add a 30 year old even if it is only for a year. No thanks.seattleblue wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 10:23 am This is a complete failure. It's almost as if it were designed in a lab in its complete idiocy
Re: Blues Should Consider Targeting Interesting Sniper
I wouldn't mind a PTO. If he takes it away from Devo and the others fine. If not, nothing ventured nothing gained.
Re: Blues Should Consider Targeting Interesting Sniper
I would hate this. No PTO. we are building from within going forward. No reason not to stick to plan. We have plenty of better options.
Re: Blues Should Consider Targeting Interesting Sniper
Definetely seems like the Blues are intentional in leaving that spot open for a prospect to grab and I reckon they think they can fill it later if that doesn't work out. Which seems like a pretty rational plan.
Re: Blues Should Consider Targeting Interesting Sniper
I agree with this. Dvorsky and Carbonneau are the only two prospects he would block next year. I would definitely like one of them to grab it and a PTO doesn't stop that. If one of them doesn't then he's competing with Sunny/Bjugstad/Texier/Joseph, which isn't exactly a murders row for the 3RW spot.

Agreed... A 30 year old smallish forward with health issues? He can be a sniper, but he also has a penchant for being weak defensively... well, when he's not injured.seattleblue wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 10:23 am This is a complete failure. And Dean. And Kaskimaki. And Peterson.DawgDad wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 15:57 pmWhere's Alexandrov?LGB73 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 15:33 pmI agree with this. (I'd say Robertsson also but I want to see a healthy season from him first)
Or maybe Stenberg forces his way into the mix.
The prospect pool is a heck of a lot deeper than just Dvorsky and Carb's.
Re: Blues Should Consider Targeting Interesting Sniper
Yeah I concur on the negative side.
Pretty sure DA does as well, no matter what DeRosa says.
Pretty sure he see's his wing cupboard as if not full then well enough filled to get through this winter.

Re: Blues Should Consider Targeting Interesting Sniper
100% Army mentioned Kaskimaki during an interview at the end of the season, so I almost expect to see him given a chance. I see Peterson eventually taking Walker's spot (or maybe Toropchenko walks). Robertsson seems forgotten but could also find his way into the mix. Both of those guys could end up like MacEachern though. Dean is my darkhorse to make the team out of camp. Stenberg is probably right there, but behind those older guys (and really is more of a top-9/top-6 guy anyways).kimzey59 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 16:23 pmAnd Dean. And Kaskimaki. I'm in the same mindset on this as both DawgDad and you...let's see whom responds and rises to the internal competition.kimzey59 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 16:23 pmAnd Dean. And Kaskimaki.
