It's "the market never really developed the way we hoped" MO....... with any luck some sort of trade involving Helsley will happen, but I don't have my hopes up.KeeptheRamsinSTL wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 16:19 pm Mariners acquiring Caleb Ferguson from Pirates. 2025
Ferguson: 1.085 WHIP, 3.14 FIP, 3.74 ERA, 7.1 K/9
Matz: 1.182 WHIP, 2.88 FIP, 3.44 ERA, 7.7 K/9
This gives us a decent framework for an expected return for Steven Matz - granted Matz is owed a bit more $$.
In exchange for two months of Ferguson, the Pirates received RHP Jeter Martinez from the Mariners. In his age-19 season, Martinez has posted a 6.18 ERA and a 1.612 WHIP over 62 2/3 IP (16 starts). He's put together a decent past six weeks, but if you have a Brent Strom in your organization, that's a lottery ticket worth acquiring for an asset on a sinking ship (no pun intended).

Re: Mariners acquiring Caleb Ferguson from Pirates
and Jhoan Duran traded to either Phils or Mariners or whoever...does that bode well for Ryan?
I don't think so.
