Gray cant handle the heat

Post by Goldfan »

“Beginning in 2021, Sonny Gray has a 6.22 in his July starts with a .465 slugging percentage against him. In all other months (combined) since '21 he has a 3.03 ERA and has yielded a .352 slugging pct.” Bernie

But he wont leave STL ::crazya::

It’s not just St. Louis. He’s been in all parts of the country over those 5 seasons. The best ERA he has had during that time in July is 4.85 in 2023.

It’s not hot in July all over the country?
I said when they signed him that theres an issue with his stamina, being able to last in games and the season. He’s 5’10 180. Most SP are well over 6ft these days.

^^^THIS^^^

It wasn't he "couldn't handle the heat" rather you can't get a good grip on the ball when the humidity is as high as it's been.

S. Alcantara said the same thing.

Good old spider tack was the solution, but gone.

was stupid to take that away, just ask the hitters if they want a guy throwing 95 or more to have a good grip on the ball 8O

Amen hawk

I would rather the guy get more spin on the ball than I would taking one off the old coconut or in the ribs.

Maybe he is best fitted for a one inning relief pitcher.
