House cleaning needed for coaching staff

Post by icon »

Bloom needs to fire Oli and his entire coaching staff. When you're starting with a "clean slate," as Mozeliak says he wants Bloom to be able to do, you need fresh faces throughout management. And that includes on the field. And he needs to hire a manager with experience. No more tryouts at the MLB level.

This would require an owner who cares. We’ll soon find out. Been a long time, would require a serious change of mindset.

The new manager would have a big say on that.

Often, a new gm/pobo brings in a new staff. Im not sure it happens here.

Reasons oli & staff may stay:

1. Bloom may want some continuity.
2. Bloom might think the staff has done well all considered.
3. DeWitt may demand it (at least through next year).

Reasons oli & staff may go:

1. Bloom wants to tear it all down.
2. Bloom feels more comfortable bringing in his own guy.
3. Bloom thinks he can find a better manager.

What would you do if you were being judged
by what happens on the field?

I would start rebuilding the roster on day 1 of being pobo.

If the plan is roster overhaul, you bring in a new staff.
If you only make a couple moves (starting pitcher, RH bat, trade a couple guys), then give this group another year.

Not sure the Cards will have a whole lot of interest in the job outside of those connected to the organization. Another first timer I fear is on the way.

They have to fire Oli and the bulk of his coaching staff (J. Jay and D. Descalso are the only one's I bring back).

Keeping Oli and his gang sends a horrible message to the fan base, more of the same poor managing.

While bringing in a new Manager gives us hope change is truly here.

If Bloom wants continuity with failure, we are in for a long haul before success returns.

while I don't completely blame the staff for the state of the club.....they are certainly complicit

they should be relived as part of a clean start with Rock's boner

as part of that fresh start is a staff from outside the organization........I will concede convincing veteran, experienced leaders to go to stl will be a challenge
