Re: Wetherholt…!!!!!
Sept 1 at the earliest UNLESS Winn gets hurt. That could change things, although I think if that happened they will try to run with Fermin until 9/1.

Re: Wetherholt…!!!!!
If they promote him before the deadline and lose a year of control this year they are idiots.

Yep no since in losing a year of control for a lost season. But man am I looking forward to it!
It's been a long line of disappointments so I'm not even gonna make the comparisons we're all thinking of and just hope he keeps mashing everywhere he goes.
For reference, though, he's only like 100 days younger than JWalk and we saw what happened when they rushed him.

I know you aren't comparing J Walk and JJ as apples to apples, and we've had other really good MILB prospects (at least we thought) over the years...Walker, Gorman, Taveras, Carlson, etc. But, when was the last time we had a prospect that was supposed to be really good, that seems to actually be really good. I'm asking that questions seriously

You should care ifnyou ever want the cardinals to be good. Like it or not dewitts will always have a budget. If you bring these players up too fasz and lose years of control when they arent even mlb ready, ypu lose control of them by their prime or have to pony up money by the time they are ready. And for what? This team isnt going anywhere and he isnt gonna save their season so why blow a year of control?

I know he has been in two offensively friendly leagues this year, but you gotta love to see the power beginning to come on. Nine of his 12 HRs have come in the last two months.

Gorman, Walker, Winn never performed like this at AAA……after tearing up AATraveledLessRoad wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 18:31 pmI know you aren't comparing J Walk and JJ as apples to apples, and we've had other really good MILB prospects (at least we thought) over the years...Walker, Gorman, Taveras, Carlson, etc. But, when was the last time we had a prospect that was supposed to be really good, that seems to actually be really good. Cool. The fans are speaking loud and clear. DeTwit and Mo-ran can continue to lose the fanbase.Wattage wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 18:33 pmYou should care ifnyou ever want the cardinals to be good. Totally understand what you're saying, but Walker was a very raw kid coming out of high school and made his debut two years after graduating. JJ had three years at college, a taste of the minors last year, plus all this year in the minors to hone his skills.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 18:22 pmFor reference, though, he's only like 100 days younger than JWalk and we saw what happened when they rushed him.
Not to say JJ is going to just come in and be an All Star from day one, but I think they're very different.
